Flanners Beach Campground

Flanners Beach Rd, New Bern, NC 28560, USA

3.0
Nice campground. We stayed on a rv site with electric. The sites have privacy as there are trees and plants between them. The bathrooms were clean and there was a handicap bathroom separate from the others which also have a handicap stall. If there is a downside, it would be the limited beach access. Storms damaged the beach and only a portion is deemed safe and is open to the public. Beautiful area just be ready for a walk if going to the beach area. I hope they get rest of the beach area safe to open soon. - barry boyles

This address places it approximately ten miles southeast of the historic city of New Bern, deeply embedded within the beautiful Croatan National Forest. The setting is ideal for those seeking a natural retreat, surrounded by tall pines and hardwoods, with the Neuse River nearby.

For North Carolina residents, reaching Flanners Beach Campground is straightforward. From New Bern, the drive typically involves taking US-70 East. The campground's position within the Croatan National Forest highlights its natural setting. It is designed to accommodate a range of vehicles, from passenger cars pulling pop-up campers to larger RVs. The gate closes at 8:00 p.m. but is not locked, providing flexibility for arrivals while encouraging a quiet atmosphere in the evenings.

It's important to note that while the campground is situated on a bluff overlooking the Neuse River, direct beach access from the campground has been impacted by past storms, and only a portion may be deemed safe and open. This means while the beauty of the water is present, walking to the beach might require a bit of a stroll, or alternative access points may need to be considered if direct beach recreation is a primary goal. However, the overall accessibility to the forested area and its trails remains excellent, making it a prime spot for land-based exploration.
