Evans Flat Campground offers basic services typical of a rustic forest campground, focusing on providing essential amenities while maintaining a natural environment.
Campsites: The campground provides a limited number of designated campsites suitable for tents and smaller RVs. Each site typically includes a picnic table and a fire ring, essential for outdoor meals and campfires (when fire restrictions permit). The sites are generally dispersed enough to offer a good degree of privacy.
Restrooms: Vault toilets are available at the campground. These are standard in many national forest campgrounds, providing basic sanitation facilities. While not luxurious, they are maintained to ensure functionality for campers.
Water Access: Potable water may be available via hand pumps or spigots, though availability can be seasonal or subject to maintenance. It is always highly recommended for campers to bring an ample supply of their own drinking water, or be prepared to filter and treat water from natural sources if available nearby.
No Reservations: Evans Flat Campground typically operates on a first-come, first-served basis. This means no advance reservations are needed or accepted, offering flexibility for spontaneous trips. However, it also implies that during popular times, securing a site is dependent on early arrival.
Trash Disposal: While some basic trash receptacles might be present, visitors should always be prepared to practice Leave No Trace principles, which includes packing out all trash and waste. This ensures the campground remains clean and pristine for all users.
Evans Flat Campground is distinguished by several features and highlights that make it a compelling choice for certain types of outdoor enthusiasts.

These routes are perfect for those who enjoy exploring by car or jeep.
Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Opportunities: While not exclusively an OHV camp, its location within the Sequoia National Forest often means proximity to or access points for various OHV trails. This appeals to visitors who enjoy exploring the backcountry on dirt bikes, ATVs, or Jeeps, as one reviewer noted about driving their "jeep up there."
Dispersed Camping Potential: The surrounding area of Evans Flat, within the Sequoia National Forest, often provides opportunities for dispersed camping (camping outside of designated campgrounds). While Evans Flat itself is a developed campground, its rustic nature aligns with the spirit of dispersed camping, appealing to those who prefer more freedom and solitude.
Natural Beauty & Forest Environment: The campground is set amidst the natural beauty of the Sequoia National Forest, offering a classic forest camping experience with tall trees and mountain air. While some areas might have been affected by past fires, the resilience of the forest and the opportunity to observe nature's recovery can be a unique aspect of a visit.

Apr 11, 2021 · Keith K.Only about 15 usable sites. 1st three sites can accommodate trailers all others tents or possibly a small tent trailer. There are 2 pit toilets that occasionally get cleaned, but better bring your own toilet paper. No water and no trash cans. Fire pits and tables at each site. But fire restrictions can be in effect. Fire permit required for fire, charcoal and propane. Many of the dead trees were cut down so not much shade. Trees are also laying in the camp sites.
Jun 30, 2018 · Sharon SmithNice and quiet but the logging in the campground has made it unattractive .Good access to OHV trails.
