Equestrian Campground is a testament to Minnesota's commitment to diverse outdoor recreation, providing a dedicated space where the love for camping meets the passion for horseback riding. While it is described as a "smaller horse camp/day use area," it makes up for its size with thoughtful amenities and a truly horse-friendly atmosphere. Visitors consistently note its inviting appearance and well-maintained grounds, making it a pleasant retreat. The design, with approximately 10 campsites specifically for horses, ensures a community of like-minded individuals, fostering a friendly and welcoming vibe. Many of these sites offer semi-shade, providing comfort during warmer days.
A standout feature, highlighted by a satisfied visitor, is the stunning natural setting. Being "on top of a hill," the outer sites, particularly those to the west, boast "good views of the lake and valleys below." This scenic backdrop enhances every aspect of your stay, from morning coffee to evening campfires. While one review mentions that there "isn't a ton of horse trails in the park," it's important to understand this within the context of the broader Sibley State Park, which does offer dedicated equestrian trails, often accessible via a short bypass trail from the campground. This means you have access to riding opportunities while enjoying the focused environment of the equestrian camp. This unique blend of dedicated facilities, scenic views, and a welcoming atmosphere makes Equestrian Campground a truly special place for Minnesota's equestrian community and anyone looking for a unique camping experience.
