What is worth choosing Eglin Family Campground
Eglin Family Campground stands out as an exceptional choice for campers in the Florida panhandle for several compelling reasons. The primary draw is its unique and beautiful location. Nestled within a military base, it offers a secure and peaceful environment that is hard to find elsewhere. The stunning water views, particularly from the Postyl Point area, create a serene atmosphere that makes it a perfect escape from everyday life. As one reviewer mentioned, having a "beautiful view of the water" is a significant perk. This natural beauty is complemented by the campground's pet-friendly policy, which is a "BIG PLUS" for many visitors who travel with their dogs. The ability to bring pets and explore the extensive grounds and nearby trails is a major advantage.
The value offered is another key factor. For those eligible, the monthly rates are highly competitive, making it a great option for extended stays. The blend of a resort-like atmosphere with the affordability of a military campground is a winning combination. Furthermore, the campground's commitment to accessibility, as evidenced by its wheelchair-accessible entrance and parking, ensures that it can accommodate a wider range of guests. The amenities, though basic, are well-maintained and provide everything needed for a comfortable stay, including picnic tables, clean public showers, and running water. The close proximity to Eglin's Outdoor Recreation and other base amenities means you are never far from activities and services, combining the best of a nature retreat with the convenience of a modern facility. While some sites may not have a dump, the availability of a central dump station mitigates this issue, and the overall positive experience far outweighs this minor inconvenience. The professional and generally courteous staff, who maintain a clear set of rules, ensure a pleasant and orderly environment for all campers.
While the possibility of a bad weather evacuation at Postyl Point is a valid concern, it is a known factor associated with the location and emphasizes the need for campers to have their own contingency plans. This transparency allows guests to be prepared. Ultimately, Eglin Family Campground is a worthwhile choice for anyone seeking a secure, scenic, and well-equipped camping experience in the Florida panhandle. Its blend of natural beauty, pet-friendly policies, and accessible amenities makes it a standout destination for authorized patrons looking for a memorable and relaxing getaway.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We stayed here in May 2025, and I would definitely go back. Had a beautiful view of the water, very pet friendly (BIG PLUS), close to the Outdoor Recreation beach area, and close to post amenities. The only drawback was the sites had no dump, but there was a dump station. We would definitely stay here again.
June 09 · Ketti McClanahanGreat monthly rates! Beautiful views at Postyl Point and lots of trails to walk at both FamCamp sites. Staff was generally courteous but very stringent on the rules. One big negative is if you stay at Postyl Point, there is the possibility of a bad weather evacuation. The troubling part is that there's no plan in place for where you can go until it reopens. Basically fend for yourself and have fun with your big rig out there in the storm...
February 20 · Dallas WilliamsThought this was a great place until we got two warnings that were absolutely ridiculous! One was for having too many vehicles… when other people had the exact same amount and never moved. the other was for parking in the grass. Which i would understand if the grass was beautiful, but it was not most places were just filled w sand/rocks instead of grass. we had half of our tire in the grass and we’re told it was against the rules, when there was other people parked like this. I have posted pictures below! I recommend the Fort Bennington site that is absolutely beautiful and it’s just right across from the AFB.
April 17 · Marisela BrownCampground is very nice, close to beach, commissary, but had to leave early to death in family. Have had to call many times to get credit on card, each time I'm told they will call back and they haven't yet, been 3 weeks. Not happy at all.
February 03 · Catherine HollowayThe manager is rude. The other staff are friendly. The manager kept harassing us the whole time we were there. She wouldn't let us stay in our tent an extra 6 days. She made us leave but it's funny how we were there 30 days and the guy next to us was there before we got there and he is still staying. The manager said we couldn't stay more than 30 days but she is letting other ones in tents stay past the 30 days. The bathrooms were clean. The laundry room was clean. Out of the 4 dryers only 1 works. I will never stay here again because of how the manager treated us. She is very rude and unprofessional.
