Eagle View Campground

Campground ★3.0

Unnamed Road, Levan, UT 84639, USA

3.0
Beautiful spot! Stayed at Eagle View Campground EV01. Wished I had known how rugged it was to get there. Cows, and really, really deep ruts. I would not attempt in the dark or in a car. Google maps sent me down a dirt road, about 2miles south of entrance. The “road” into Eagle View sites 1 & 2 is not marked - Sarah Koehler

Eagle View Campground Introduce

Introduction / Overview

Eagle View Campground, located at Yuba State Park near Levan, is a special kind of destination for the adventurous Utahn. This is not a manicured, resort-style campground but rather a rugged and authentic outdoor escape. Visitors describe it as a "Beautiful spot!" and a place for a "great time," but they also offer a vital warning: the journey to get there is part of the adventure. With roads that are "really, really deep ruts," a good "4 wheel vehicle" is a necessity. For those who are prepared, this is exactly what makes the experience so rewarding. It’s a place for those who enjoy the challenge and the fun of a true off-road experience, where the journey makes the destination even more worthwhile.

The ruggedness contributes to a sense of seclusion and a peaceful atmosphere that is harder to find at more accessible campgrounds. The feeling of having the place to yourself is a huge draw, and reviews highlight the value of this kind of solitude. It’s a place where you can disconnect from the daily grind and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Yuba State Park, with its stunning lake and surrounding landscape. The campground is also "Good for kids" and welcomes "Dogs allowed," making it a perfect spot for families and pet owners who are up for a bit of a challenge to find their ideal camping spot. It's a testament to the idea that the best places in Utah are often the ones that require a little extra effort to reach.

Location and Accessibility

Eagle View Campground is situated on an Unnamed Road near Levan, Utah, within Yuba State Park. Its location on the east side of Yuba Reservoir means it offers stunning views of the water and surrounding hills. However, accessibility is a key factor to consider. The road to the campground is rugged, with deep ruts, and is not recommended for a standard car, especially after rain when it becomes muddy. Visitors are strongly advised to have a "4 wheel vehicle" to access the sites.

The drive itself is part of the experience, offering a sense of adventure and seclusion that is rare at other state park campgrounds. While this may be a deterrent for some, for others, it is precisely what makes Eagle View so appealing. It weeds out the casual campers, leaving the sites for those who truly appreciate a more rustic, adventurous setting. The physical location provides a direct "Access to the beach" and close proximity to the water, which is ideal for those who love fishing, boating, and other water-based activities. The phone number provided, (435) 758-2611, is for Yuba State Park itself, and it's a good idea to call ahead to get current conditions, especially regarding road status.

Services Offered

  • RV and Tent Camping: The campground provides designated sites suitable for both RVs (with a max length of 45 ft) and tents. However, some sites are tent-only, and visitors with RVs should be aware that the roads are rugged and RV camping is at their own risk.

  • Public Restrooms: The campground offers public restrooms, with some sites having access to vault toilets. This provides a basic but essential amenity for campers, although some sites are more primitive and require visitors to pack out their waste.

  • Running Water and Showers: Public data indicates the campground has running water and public showers, though these may be located at other facilities within Yuba State Park, such as Oasis Campground. It is advised to verify which amenities are available at the specific site you book, as some sites are more primitive than others.

  • Picnic Tables and Fire Pits: Each campsite comes equipped with picnic tables and fire rings, with some structures offering hooks for tarps, as one reviewer noted. This allows for comfortable outdoor cooking and dining.

  • On-site Parking: The campground offers on-site parking at each site, although some spots may be more suitable for 4x4 vehicles due to the road conditions.

Features / Highlights

  • Authentic, Rugged Adventure: The most significant highlight is the sense of adventure that comes with a rugged road and a secluded destination. It’s a place for those who love to get off the beaten path and are prepared for a bit of a challenge. The presence of cows and deep ruts adds to the wild and untamed feel of the area.

  • Stunning Lake Views and Beach Access: The campground’s location offers beautiful views of Yuba Reservoir and direct access to a nearby beach. This makes it a fantastic spot for swimming, fishing, and boating, as well as simply relaxing by the water.

  • Peaceful and Secluded Atmosphere: Despite being part of a state park, Eagle View provides a surprisingly quiet and peaceful environment. Its difficult-to-access nature ensures that it remains less crowded than other campgrounds, allowing for a more serene experience.

  • Family and Pet-Friendly: The campground is a great option for families ("Good for kids") and allows dogs on-leash ("Dogs allowed"). This makes it a place where the whole family can enjoy a genuine outdoor adventure together.

  • Practical Amenities: While the sites are rustic, the provision of picnic tables, fire pits, and public restrooms (in some areas) makes for a more comfortable stay. The available hooks on structures over tables are a small but helpful detail that adds to the user experience.

What is Worth Choosing

For a local Utahn who has grown tired of the crowded, commercialized campgrounds, Eagle View is an excellent choice. What makes it worth choosing is its blend of rugged adventure and peaceful retreat. The journey to get there, with its bumpy roads and the presence of wildlife like cows, is part of the unique appeal. It’s a place for those who embrace the "fun and adventure" of an off-road trip and appreciate a more natural, less-developed camping experience. The campground’s peaceful atmosphere and stunning views of Yuba Lake provide a genuine sense of escape.

The amenities, while basic, are what you need for a comfortable stay. The availability of picnic tables, fire pits, and some restroom facilities means you don't have to completely rough it. The fact that it is family and pet-friendly adds to its value as a destination for the whole household. It’s a place where you can teach kids to love the outdoors and enjoy the simple pleasures of nature. While it requires a bit more preparation and the right vehicle, the rewards—a beautiful, secluded campsite with direct lake access—are well worth the effort. Eagle View Campground is a testament to the idea that some of the best experiences are the ones that are just a little bit harder to get to.
