DeAnza Springs Resort is located at 1951 Carrizo Gorge Rd, Jacumba Hot Springs, CA 91934, USA. This puts it in a unique and scenic part of Eastern San Diego County, about an hour east of downtown San Diego. Its elevated position at 2600 feet in the high desert offers stunning desert views and a generally pleasant climate for year-round vacationing.
Accessibility to the resort involves a drive that eventually turns onto Carrizo Gorge Road, which is described by some as a "gravel and wash board" road. While this might require careful driving, it leads to a truly secluded and expansive property that feels "a world away" from city life. Despite its remote feel, the resort is well-connected to major routes, making it a manageable drive for Californians from various parts of the state. For instance, from Interstate 8, you would typically go about 3 miles west on I-8, then 2 miles northwest on Carrizo Gorge Road.
The resort is strategically surrounded on three sides by the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, offering direct access to miles of pristine desert landscape. This prime location means guests are immediately immersed in the natural beauty of the region, with endless opportunities for hiking and exploring right from the resort property. While isolated enough for a true retreat, it's not entirely cut off; nearby towns offer limited services, and the resort's comprehensive amenities reduce the need to leave often.
DeAnza Springs Resort offers a comprehensive suite of services and accommodation options, truly embodying the "resort" in its name. It goes well beyond basic camping, providing a comfortable and convenient experience.

- Clean Bathhouses and Hot Showers: Camping doesn't mean roughing it entirely. The bathhouses at both RV and tent sites provide clean facilities with hot showers, ensuring comfort for all guests.
- Laundry Facilities: Multiple washers and dryers are available 24 hours a day for guest convenience.
- Dining and Socializing: The Clubhouse is a vibrant gathering place, featuring The Oasis Lounge/Bar (open weekends) with billiards, live music, events, drink specials, and quick bites. DeAnza Springs Resort is packed with features and highlights that ensure a rich and entertaining stay for every type of visitor.
- Multiple Pools and Hot Tubs: The resort boasts two chlorinated swimming pools – one outdoor and unheated, and one indoor and heated year-round – plus a hot tub/jacuzzi for ultimate relaxation. Reviewers consistently praise the cleanliness of these facilities, despite one mention of the outdoor pool being chilly sometimes.
- Extensive Hiking and Biking Trails: Surrounded by the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, the resort offers direct access to dozens of exclusive hiking and mountain biking trails. Guests can explore ancient native encampments, abandoned mines, railroad camps, and breathtaking desert landscapes. Reviews confirm the "hiking is absolutely amazing" and "incredible."
- Wide Range of Activities: Beyond hiking and swimming, the resort offers an impressive list of activities including tennis and pickleball courts (with rackets and balls available), shuffleboard, a pool table, cornhole, putting greens (plural, some sources mention three separate greens), and a "really nice playground for kids."
- Vibrant Social Scene: The resort often hosts events in the clubhouse and bar, ranging from karaoke and live bands to comedy performances and themed parties. This creates a lively "never-ending summer camp" atmosphere, fostering a strong sense of community among guests.
- Family-Friendly Environment: Despite its historical reputation, the resort explicitly states it is a "family friendly destination." Reviewers confirm that "kids absolutely loved it," enjoying the "overall location and all the secret like places to discover."
- Customer Service Excellence: Consistently, guests praise the "friendly and helpful" staff, from the front desk (like Corina & Ruth mentioned in a review for a similar resort, though the sentiment likely applies here) to the entire crew. This dedication to guest satisfaction contributes significantly to the overall positive experience.
- "Endless to Explore": This phrase from a customer review perfectly encapsulates the vastness of the 500-acre property and the myriad of activities and natural wonders available, ensuring guests feel they can always discover something new.
- Historical Clothing-Optional Aspect (Note): It's important for potential visitors to be aware that DeAnza Springs Resort was historically a clothing-optional community. However, it's wise for guests to confirm the current policy directly with the resort if this is a factor in their decision.

DeAnza Springs Resort Reviews
Had a great time with our family & friends here over Memorial Day weekend 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Every staff member we came across was friendly and helpful. Although the pool was a bit chilly it was Clean👍. Everything was open, full access to everything, all trails too nothing seemed to be off limits anywhere. Our group enjoyed our 3 night stay with zero issues. But most of all our kids absolutely loved it! they loved the overall location and all the secret like places to discover. This place is endless to explore, we’re looking forward to our next stay.
May 28, 2025 · Bryan C.The rooms were VERY clean, beds and pillows comfy! The amenities offered were great-we didn’t get to use all of them because we were taking care of business while on vacatio . The hiking is absolutely amazing and the pools (indoor/outdoor) were clean and nice. We will definitely be coming back. The front desk staff and everyone we met was so kind and helpful. Only thing that could be better is coffee pot/microwave in the room and the road to get there is gravel and wash board
Jun 02, 2025 · Roxie ElsberndMy husband and I took our kids camping with my mother in law, father in law, brother in law, and his girlfriend. Our kids are 9 and 10. We set up 2 tents in the B section, right in front of the clubhouse. Our area was perfectly shady, it came with a charcoal grill, a picnic table, a cement slab, electricity hookups and water, and plenty of space. We checked in on July 3rd and we left on the 6th. For the 4th, they served a free and delicious lunch to all of the guests. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. My kids had an awesome time in the indoor pool and the outdoor pool. They do provide pool toys, and we had an amazing time playing volleyball as a family. There is a big activity space, with a huge jenga and connect 4, we had a perfect time interacting with everyone. There are several people that we met that lived there full time, and they were all so welcoming. They had a DJ playing family friendly music and the vibe was immaculate. It was our first time there, and we were a little nervous because the things the internet had to say, but we couldn't have had a better time. DeAnza has done a wonderful job catering to families and everyone has fully embraced a new era there.I HIGHLY suggest taking your family here. I know you will have a wonderful time.If you don't prefer tent camping, they do offer RV rentals, and they have a cute little motel with different themed rooms. The amenities alone are worth coming for, but the surroundings are breathtaking and there is so much cool stuff to see. There is a nice restaurant at the clubhouse, so you don't even need to worry about packing too much stuff in.I felt so safe here, I took a nap right on the lawn. I will definitely be bringing my family back.
