Here, you'll find a peaceful haven where the focus is on nature's splendor, offering ample opportunities for fishing, hiking, and simply unwinding in a truly picturesque setting. Locals often seek out campgrounds that offer a sense of solitude and connection to the landscape, and Dalles Campground perfectly fits that description. Dalles Campground is strategically located within the stunning Lolo National Forest, providing campers with direct access to some of Montana's most cherished natural resources. You'll find this picturesque campground at Lolo National Forest, Forest Road #7500, Clinton, MT 59825, USA.
Its placement along the legendary Rock Creek Road is a significant draw. Rock Creek is internationally renowned as a blue-ribbon trout stream, making Dalles Campground a prime destination for anglers. The campground is described by locals as the fourth campground up Rock Creek Road from the Sawmill fishing access, and many consider it to have some of the best sites available along this stretch.
While the exact distance from major towns can vary depending on your starting point, Dalles Campground offers a true sense of seclusion. Access to the campground involves traveling on Forest Road #7500, which is primarily a gravel road. Visitors should be aware that the road can be "rough" and "generates a lot of dust," as noted by past campers. This is part of the authentic Lolo National Forest experience, but it's something to consider, especially for larger vehicles or those unaccustomed to unpaved roads. Despite the rougher terrain, the journey is well worth it, leading you to a serene and captivating environment that feels truly off the beaten path. This accessible wilderness ensures that you're far enough from the hustle and bustle to truly relax, yet still within reach for a weekend escape.

Dalles Campground Reviews
Great campground with several spots right on the creek. There is water available (from a hand pump) and pit toilets. This is the 4th campground up Rock Creek road from the Saw mill fishing access and it has the best sites available of the 4 (in my opinion) Just a couple hundred yards from the suspension bridge and Welcome creek trail head. There are several friendly mule deer that will bester you to no end but it's kind of cool to see them hanging around.
Aug 26, 2018 · R Brown (USMC)Gorgeous spot along the river. 10 spots, all FF. Campground is not at river level. There is ~20 ft bank leading down to the river. Vault toilets and hand pumped water. The road in is rough... mostly gravel and traffic generates a lot of dust. Wildlife includes eagles, deer and lots of annoying flies.
Aug 15, 2020 · Chris Franklin10 spots. Some on the river, some on the opposite side of the road. Easy access to the creek down a small hill. Pretty straightforward. Great campsite. Secluded from other sites.Water available.
Aug 21, 2023 · Mike GuildThere are installing updated restrooms. So portapottys is used for now. The water from the well pump tastes great. Rock creek next to campsite was great. And the hike trail near by started with a walking bridge.
Aug 27, 2023 · Dan LongAll campgrounds are NOT accessible due to construction (mid August) except for Nolan--tent camping only. Unless you have 4 wheel drive and really high clearance to get over the fresh dirt dumped down the middle of the narrow road and no guarantee you can make it back to I-90.
