Jul 11, 2020 · Christopher SorensenThe state park website let us make a reservation back in Feb 2025 (we did not know it was first come first serve, it did NOT say that when we reserved and paid for the space anywhere on their site). An employee emailed us three days before we were supposed to camp saying they had to move us elsewhere because we reserved a non reservable spot. They offered to move us to Huckleberry, at first I thought ok great, nope, they offered us the one spot at the entrance that nobody obviously wants because its still available three days in advance while the whole entire park is booked (I've camped at huckleberry plenty in my life and know why that spot is never taken, it is an awful and noisy spot). Our other options were options right at the entrances or by the highway on the other side of the lake. Pretty lame to let us know three days in advance and offer us the worst leftover spots at the other campgrounds. So instead we cancelled our one spot we were able to "reserve" for this summer because of their mess up. We weren't even offered a different weekend at Huckleberry or other surrounding campgrounds that maybe weren't the worst spots. Super disappointed. Wonder how many other people paid for spots at this campground and got a three day warning to be moved to a crappy spot or cancel.
