Crozier Ranch

Campground ★4.0

Historic Rte 66, Hackberry, AZ 86411, USA

4.0
We had the pleasure of staying at Crozier Ranch on two different nights throughout the week and were thoroughly impressed. The first time, we camped on the south side of the road, and the second time, we were on the north side.On both occasions, we appeared to be the only people for miles. The solitude was incredible. If you're looking for a peaceful and quiet escape, this is it. The grounds were also remarkably clean. We can't say enough good things about this spot. It was quiet, clean, and felt like our own private slice of the desert. We would definitely recommend it and will certainly be staying here again! - David “Mr David” Skelton

This is not a typical developed campground with a long list of amenities, but rather a primitive, quiet, and wonderfully secluded spot for those who truly appreciate solitude. It is a "just a place to park" kind of destination, as described by visitors, where the beauty of the landscape and the incredible peace are the main attractions. Crozier Ranch is ideal for campers who are self-sufficient and committed to the principles of "Leave No Trace."

Guests who have stayed here have been "thoroughly impressed" by the solitude and tranquility. It's a spot that thrives on simplicity, offering a pure camping experience where the focus is on the environment and the quiet enjoyment of nature. Location and Accessibility

Crozier Ranch is located on Historic Route 66 in Hackberry, AZ 86411, USA. Its position on this famous road makes it a nostalgic and scenic stop for anyone traveling the historic highway. The campground is situated on private property, which guests access by a gate with a chain. The process is simple: "Drive in, replace chain," which adds to the feeling of having a private and secure spot.

Accessibility is straightforward for most vehicles, but it's important for visitors to note that the access roads are dirt roads. What is worth choosing

Crozier Ranch is worth choosing for a very specific type of camper: the one who craves peace, quiet, and a true connection with the Arizona desert. This is not the place for those who expect amenities like flushing toilets, picnic tables, or designated fire pits. Instead, its value lies in what it lacks. The absence of modern conveniences forces you to rely on yourself and truly immerse in the environment. This is a rare opportunity for a genuine off-grid experience, a perfect spot for "boondocking" or primitive tent camping in a beautiful, natural setting. The "solitude was incredible," as one camper described it, and this is the main reason to choose Crozier Ranch.

The location on Historic Route 66 makes it an iconic stop, blending the rich history of the road with the timeless beauty of the desert. The fact that it is "good for kids" is a testament to the safety and freedom the open space provides, allowing children to explore without the constraints of a typical park. The "on-site parking" on both sides of the road also adds a layer of convenience and the ability to find a spot that feels completely private, even if other campers are nearby. This is a place for the minimalist camper, the stargazer, and anyone who wants to wake up to the sound of silence and the vast, beautiful expanse of the Arizona desert. It's a highly recommended spot for those who understand and respect its "carry in, carry out" ethos, ensuring it remains a pristine and peaceful gem for years to come.
