Creekside Campground Idaho City

Campground ★4.0

3193 ID-21, Boise, ID 83716, USA

4.0
Terrible night. My tent campsite had a street light blazing all night long. There was no place to put a tent on this site where it didn't seem like you were on stage for the dancing with the Stars finale. Ended up sleeping in my car with the sunshades all around me to block out the light. In addition there are street noises all night because this camp ground is right next to the highway. Camp sites are small and close together. The only good thing about this camp ground is the closeness to downtown, which isn't much of a benefit when you really wanted to sleep. - Jeanne Whitmore (LazyPersonalFinance)

Creekside Campground Idaho City Introduce

Tucked away between the historic charm of Idaho City and the vibrant city of Boise, Creekside Campground offers a truly special and convenient outdoor escape. This small, privately owned and lovingly cared for campground is a hidden gem along the Ponderosa Scenic Byway, providing a perfect after-work weekend getaway or a tranquil basecamp for exploring the surrounding Boise National Forest. Unlike larger, bustling parks, Creekside Campground offers a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere where the rush of water from the adjacent Mores Creek sets a calming tone for your entire stay. Whether you are looking for a spot for a quick RV trip, a place to set up a tent, or a gathering with friends, this facility prides itself on being a serene and beautiful example of Idaho’s natural landscape. It's a place designed to help you relax and recharge, leaving you with a smile and a sense of calm that lingers long after you've left.

Creekside Campground is located at 3193 ID-21, a convenient drive from both Boise and Idaho City. Its location right off Highway 21 makes it easily accessible for all types of vehicles, from cars to RVs, without the need to navigate challenging, high-elevation mountain roads. While the proximity to the highway can lead to some road noise, the campground is situated down a small slope, which helps to mitigate the sound, and for many, the trade-off is well worth it for the ease of access. The campground offers on-site parking for all campers and is notably wheelchair accessible, with both a wheelchair accessible entrance and parking lot. This commitment to accessibility ensures that more people can enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The short drive from Boise makes it an ideal spot for locals seeking a quick escape without spending hours on the road, while its proximity to historic Idaho City means you have easy access to local amenities and attractions when you're not at your campsite.

Creekside Campground provides a number of services and amenities designed to make your stay both comfortable and enjoyable. These facilities are maintained to a high standard, contributing to the welcoming atmosphere of the park.

  • RV and Tent Sites: The campground accommodates both RV campers and tent campers with designated sites. This flexibility makes it a great choice for various camping styles, from those with large vehicles to those who prefer a more traditional tent setup.

  • Public Restrooms and Showers: Clean and well-maintained public restrooms and showers are available, offering a significant upgrade from a more primitive camping experience. The availability of hot showers is a particularly welcome feature for many campers.

  • Running Water: Access to running water is a key amenity, essential for cooking, cleaning, and staying hydrated. This convenience adds a layer of ease to your camping trip.

  • Wi-Fi: In a remote setting where cell service can be spotty, having Wi-Fi is a major benefit. This allows campers to stay connected if needed, whether for work or for planning their next day's adventure.

  • Playground and Swings: The campground is very good for kids, featuring a playground with swings. This provides a safe and fun area for children to play, giving parents a chance to relax while the little ones burn off some energy.

  • Picnic Tables and Barbecue Grills: Each site is equipped with a picnic table and a barbecue grill. These features make it easy to prepare and enjoy meals outdoors, perfect for everything from a quick lunch to a full barbecue dinner.

  • Dogs Allowed: The campground is a dog-friendly place, allowing you to bring your pets along for the journey. This is a great feature for those who consider their dogs part of the family.

Creekside Campground stands out not only for its amenities but also for the unique features and highlights that create a memorable experience.

  • Peaceful and Private Vibe: Despite its accessibility, the campground has a reputation as a peaceful retreat. The loving care from its owners helps maintain a quiet and welcoming environment that is not a "party place," as noted by a grateful camper.

  • Sounds of the Creek: One of the most cherished features is the sound of the water rushing past the campsites from the adjacent creek. This natural soundscape provides a soothing backdrop for your entire stay, promoting relaxation and tranquility.

  • Beautiful Scenery: The campground is surrounded by beautiful trees, including quaking aspens that seem to wave in the breeze. This lush, green environment is a stark contrast to more arid landscapes and offers plenty of shade for tents and vehicles alike.

  • Communal Fire Pit: A large, communal fire pit provides a perfect place for campers to gather, share stories, and enjoy the camaraderie of a shared outdoor experience. This fosters a friendly atmosphere and is a great way to meet fellow campers.

  • Access to Area Activities: From the campground, you have easy access to a variety of outdoor activities. Hiking, biking, fishing, and boating are all nearby, as are several hot springs, allowing you to easily plan a day trip full of adventure.

Creekside Campground is an exceptional choice for anyone seeking a convenient, peaceful, and amenity-rich camping experience in the Idaho region. What makes it particularly worth choosing is the unique balance it strikes between a tranquil natural setting and the availability of essential modern conveniences like Wi-Fi and showers. The location is perfect for those who want a quick getaway from Boise without sacrificing the feeling of being in the heart of nature. The presence of a playground and the dog-friendly policy make it a fantastic option for families, ensuring everyone, including pets, has a great time. While some might find the sites to be close together or exposed to light and highway noise, for many, the benefits far outweigh these minor issues. The aural backdrop of the rushing creek, the beautifully maintained grounds, and the welcoming atmosphere created by its owners make Creekside a special place. It’s a place to unwind, to smile, and to let your shoulders relax. For locals in Idaho, it represents an easily accessible, beautiful, and restorative spot that feels like a world away, even though it's just a short drive from home.
