While larger Class A RVs might find certain aspects challenging, Cosca Park Campground truly shines for those with camper vans, Class B, or smaller Class C recreational vehicles. It's a place where you can connect with nature, enjoy a quiet evening under the stars, and make lasting memories, all within an easy drive for many Marylanders. This guide will provide you with all the essential information you need to plan your visit, from its convenient location to the services and features you can expect.
Located at 11050 Thrift Rd, Clinton, MD 20735, USA, Cosca Park Campground boasts an accessible location for residents throughout Maryland, particularly those in the greater Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Its proximity to major roadways makes it a relatively easy drive, allowing you to transition from city life to a natural setting in a short amount of time. This accessibility is a significant advantage for local users, minimizing travel time and maximizing your outdoor enjoyment. While the campground is tucked away enough to offer a sense of escape, it remains conveniently close to local amenities in Clinton, MD, should you need any supplies or services during your stay. The setting is notably wooded, providing a pleasant natural ambiance, and the campground road is generally quiet, contributing to a peaceful environment. However, it's worth noting that cellular coverage for both Verizon and AT&T can be marginal, so planning for limited connectivity is advisable.
When considering Cosca Park Campground for your next outing, it's important to understand the services and features it offers. While it provides essential amenities, campers should be aware of certain limitations, particularly for larger rigs or those seeking full hookups.
Services Offered:
- Water hookups: Available at individual sites, though issues with anti-siphon valves have been reported.
- Electrical hookups: Primarily 30/20 amp service. Users of larger RVs may require long extension cords due to pedestal placement. Instances of unstable electrical service and low voltage have been noted, potentially activating surge protector safety features.
- Dump Station: A designated area for waste disposal is available. However, be aware that its design and maintenance have been described as unconventional, with a square metal cover revealing a pool of raw sewage rather than a standard sewer pipe.
- Limited Accessibility for Large RVs: The campground roads and site configurations are better suited for smaller recreational vehicles like camper vans, Class B, and small Class C RVs. Trees along the loop road may not provide adequate clearance for large Class A RVs.
Features / Highlights:
- Picnic Table: Each site includes a picnic table, perfect for outdoor meals and gatherings.
- Fire Ring: A fire ring is provided at each site for campfires, though fire prohibitions may be in effect depending on local conditions.
- Wooded Environment: The sites are nicely wooded, offering a natural and private feel with deep woods on one side and the campground road on the other.
- Quiet Atmosphere: The campground is generally described as quiet, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and enjoying nature.
- Cost-Effective: Cosca Park Campground is often highlighted as a very budget-friendly option, providing an economical way to enjoy a camping experience. This is a significant advantage for locals looking for affordable recreational opportunities.
- Paved Pull-Through Sites: Some sites, such as Site 18, are paved pull-throughs, which can offer convenience for certain vehicle types, although leveling may be a challenge on some.

For the most current pricing and any potential discounts (such as for residents or seniors, if applicable), it is always best to contact the campground directly. Cosca Park Campground Reviews
While this might be a great campground for a camper van, Class B or small Class C, it is not so much for a Class A.Site 18, roadside crescent paved pull-through. 30/20 amp, water, no sewer. The site was barely big enough for our 36' Class A, and badly out of level. I moved the coach a number of times repositioning trying to find the least unlevel positioning. The best I could manage was 2.0 degrees right low and 1.0 degree front low.I hooked up the water hose, but the anti-siphon valve on the faucet leaked enthusiastically.I hooked up the electrical, which required the use of our twenty-five foot 0-gauge 50-amp extension cord due to the location of the pedestal which is toward the front of the site and off to the side. Unfortunately, the park electrical was not stable and the Emergency Power Off feature of the Watchdog surge guard activated a number of times due to low voltage at the pedestal. On the way in, we stopped at the dump station to unhook the Escape which turned out to be a blessing because even though that location was not ideal for unhooking, any other place in the campground would have been worse. While I was at the dump station, I took a look at the dump site. It is absolutely the nastiest dump site I have ever seen. Rather than being the standard 4" sewer pipe into which I place the sewer hose elbow adapter, this has a square metal cover that is about 12" on each side, when you lift the cover, there is just a pool of raw sewage. The site does have a picnic table and a fire ring, though at the moment, fires are prohibited. It didn't matter, as we wouldn't be spending any time outside as there is an unpleasant odor.Cellular coverage (both Verizon and AT&T) is marginal. The trees on the sides and above the campground loop road are not adequately trimmed to allow clearance for a large RV.The site is nicely wooded. The campground road is on one side of the coach, and there are deep woods on the other side. It is nice and quiet. The one other positive thing I will say is that it is the least expensive (other than free BLM) campground we have stayed at in the last year. So, for all practical purposes, at least for us, this amounts to almost a dry camping campground. Needless to say, should we find ourselves in this area again, we will pick another place to stay.
