Cortland Country Music Park-Campground Introduce
For New Yorkers looking for a camping experience that offers more than just a peaceful retreat – one that’s steeped in local culture and vibrant live entertainment – the Cortland Country Music Park-Campground in Cortland, NY, presents a truly unique destination. This isn't just a place to pitch a tent or park an RV; it's a community hub where the love of country music meets the joys of outdoor living, all set within the beautiful landscapes of Central New York.
At its heart, the Cortland Country Music Park-Campground is the "Home of the New York State Country Music Hall of Fame." This dedicated museum features "memorabilia from Nashville artists as well as local New York State musicians," offering a fascinating glimpse into the history of country music. It's a testament to the vision of local musician Merlin Reynolds, who dreamed of honoring NYS Country Western artists. This unique cultural element sets it apart from typical campgrounds, inviting guests to explore a piece of musical heritage right on site.
Beyond the museum, the "Opry Barn" is a central feature, regularly hosting "live bands and dancing on Saturday nights (Round and Square), and Round dancing on Sunday afternoons." This commitment to live entertainment creates a lively and engaging atmosphere, turning a simple camping trip into a mini-festival experience. They even have "Tribute Dinner Show put on by our very talented local bands and performers" from May through December, offering a full evening of music and dining. This provides a fantastic opportunity for campers to enjoy high-quality entertainment without having to leave the park.
While recent reviews indicate that the campground is undergoing a transition with "new management" and is "working out the bugs," there's a strong sense of dedication from the team. The "new manager and wife came over and introduced themselves and apologized" for initial issues, and staff members like Dan and Darren received high praise for their immediate assistance and hard work in getting campers settled. This commitment to improvement and guest satisfaction, despite challenges, speaks volumes about the potential of the park to become the "gem I know it can be." For New Yorkers who appreciate a campground with character, history, and a strong sense of community, Cortland Country Music Park-Campground offers an evolving and engaging experience.

Cortland Country Music Park-Campground, as a non-profit organization primarily run by volunteers and currently under new management, may structure its offerings and value propositions differently than commercial campgrounds. - Passport America Discount: The campground participates in Passport America, offering a discount for members. However, there are restrictions: it's "valid Mon thru Thurs. for one night ONLY," not valid during holidays or special events, and is for "Drive-up accommodations only (no reservations permitted for PA-first come, first served)." It may also have additional charges for 50-amp service or full hookups. It's crucial for members to call ahead and confirm details.
- Seasonal Rates: The campground offers "long (Apr. 15 – Oct. 15) and short (Memorial Day to Labor Day) season camping," indicating potential cost savings for extended stays compared to nightly rates. "Seasonal Site Memos and Contracts have been sent" further suggests established seasonal programs.
- Value from On-Site Entertainment: The regular "live bands and dancing on Saturday nights" and "Tribute Dinner Show" (which may have an extra charge for dinner) provide significant entertainment value directly on-site, enhancing the camping experience without needing to travel elsewhere for nightlife.
- Inclusive Activities: Features like "catch-and-release fishing" in the pond, the playground, and planned activities like "Fishing Derby, potluck dinners and pancake breakfasts" (some of which may have an extra charge for food) contribute to the overall value of the stay.
- Group/Event Bookings: The "Opry Barn" is available for rent for "luncheons, family reunions, private parties, anniversaries, meetings, class reunions, banquets and benefits." While not a 'promotion' per se, it offers a unique venue and catering services for larger gatherings.

Cortland Country Music Park-Campground Reviews
READ FULL REVIEW We heard mixed reviews about the campground but we wanted to try it.. so I booked in October 2023.. I paid in full I didn’t get a receipt emailed so I bugged them and they said the computers were down blah blah finally I got a email confirmation.. so I called for confirmation of incoming on the Monday b4 we arrived.. the lady that answered said you have a confirmation I was like oh no.. I said yes and read it to her she said no problem I guess it changed hands on who owned it.. I was told it was the new section and all new 50 amps.. so we pulled in looking for our site first impression was ohhhhhh nooo we won’t fit and the sites are a hot mess.. three pads close together all over grown with weeds.. with all kinds of stairs a mini fridge a small table not very appealing and a shed that was opened up and was full of bees (a young boy got stung) so we got out of the truck and a few men came out not sure where from lol but they appeared.. the one guy Dan said I will call and see where they want u to go.. as he’s on the phone a man named Darren came and helped us into a new spot close to where we originally booked..and I said it looks like the Klampets are here nothing liked I was told on the phone.. he apologized and said they are under new management it’s corporate owned and they are working out the bugs in it..the lil man that got stuns was hand pulling weeds w me b4 he got stung.. and the men moved the extra stairs from our pad and helped my husband get settled in the spot.. i continued to pick up the pad and Dan came back with a weed eater and did a great job.. so with that being said the rest wasn’t at all bad we met a lot of nice people. I had my husband carefully close the door of the eye sore bee infested shed..the new manager and wife came over and introduced themselves and apologized.. then other campers introduced themselves within the few hours of us being there..walking around the campground wasn’t rough terrain and a mower.. weeding.. some trimming of hedges and trees would do wonders for the place.. some of the seasonals should take care of their spaces better especially if on water one camper had a open bag of garbage on the ground the whole time.. we visited the museum a lot of history in there kinda a shame that ppl don’t come to visit.. a lot of potential.. the opry house I loved I could see acts playing on the stage and just a great place.. they had a band Saturday nite but there wasn’t much of advertising for it.. a sign in front of the park and if anyone stumbled across the facebook page.. after the first few hours of being there I can say we enjoyed ourselves.. can’t express enough gratitude how the men in the beginning helped us out.. and the new manager and wife were nice as well..trying their best as a team to make it great again a destination for all kinds of music and events.. it’s gonna be a rough season most likely but I hope next year it will be the gem I know it can be.. I had seen in my own mind how great it could be with blood sweat and tears..and laughing along the way.. the last pic I post on here are of the pads outside our door that is fist step of cleaning the place up..
Jul 09, 2024 · Carol EmmonsDecent campground but needs updating. There are no sewer hookups so they have a honey wagon for a fee. Seems to be a lot of old campers on sites that are very rundown. The manager is great. For the money charged it's a place to stay.
Nov 23, 2024 · Don WoodUnder new board of directors. CMHOfFame needs to be cleaned up some. Had an odor of cat urine. Love the exhibits tho.
May 18, 2025 · Jaqueline HeisnerPhenomenal kind and welcoming staff of a quaint laid back little campground just outside of Cortland. Clean bathrooms and well kept. The hall of Fame is a beautiful tribute to country music commercial and local.I'm so excited to go back next year !
Sep 02, 2023 · Sean HoganI height recommend this campground especially if you have an RV. This is one of the very very few RV parks in NY that is open during the winter. They provide electricity only but they ensure that you have a camp spot close to a bathroom that has showers. The office personnel are very friendly but more importantly they (especially Ester in the office) work with you and make sure that you get a great rate and help in any way.The two grounds managers (Bill & his wife) are so helpful and friendly. They go out of their way to help with whatever you need to ensure you are taken care of. They helped us find our dog who broke free and ran off, they offered to help walk our dogs, they came right out in the middle of the night to help reset the circuit breaker when it tripped. The weekly country music was really nice at an extremely great rate. All the patrons there are very welcoming.I 150% recommend this campground to anyone who is looking for a place to stop.
