Coloma Resort Reviews
We’ve made this the annual trip for my wife’s birthday at the end of March. It’s a nice weekend away, when we have nothing to do, no other obligations. There is a bunch of history in the area including the gold rush and a couple short hikes. Weather in Spring can be unpredictable, and the river is moving very fast. Watch your kids. The park is clean, well maintained and staff is friendly.

Jul 02, 2025 · Jalalluddin AnsariNO WATER IN THE RIVER. Water levels are depleted and you can’t even go Tubing. Waste of time and energy bringing everyone.
Jul 02, 2025 · jalall ansariI've been coming here since I was a kid, almost every year for the gold rush reenactment. They have done lots of work, some is good, and some, not so much.I guess the old store burned down, which is shame because the new store has none of the charm, and about a tenth of items, as the old store. There used to be way more little nicknacks and kitchy camping gifts and things. They also got rid of the chicken coop and the little old west town. All the old facades of blacksmith shop, banks and hotels are gone. Not a single place to take corny old times photos and that's a shame. On the positive side, they have expanded a lot! Where a ropes course used to be they now have all sorts of lodging options. There are little cabins, glamping tents, bunk houses, a full cottage with deck, tent spots, rv spots and even two covered wagons. It is not cheap, but they have really cleaned up the property and we saw the crew cleaning leafs and taking trash constantly. It's right in Coloma on the American River, so you really can't be the location. It will get cold in the winter, but that doesn't stop people from rafting.
Dec 18, 2024 · eric pWe booked a site for 5 nights, it was a river side spot. It was such a beautiful view and a private trail down to the river. On our first night, when I was returning from the bathroom I saw a cockroach near our tent. We got out our flashlights and found 4 more climbing on our tent and then saw hundreds more (might be overestimate but that's what it looked like) running up and down the hill just outside our tent. We killed a few and then decided to go to bed and try not to think about it. The next morning we mentioned it to a staff member and they didn't seem surprised. So, we decided we would try to deal with it ourselves. When the sunset we got out our roach killer and begin to put a barrier around our site but that didn't stop them, so we started spraying them, but they kept coming out of nowhere. We eventually ran out of roach killer and it didn't seem to do anything so we went to bed. The next morning we asked to move to a bunk house due to concern of the roaches getting into our stuff. The staff were more than helpful with the switch but still were not surprised about the cockroach issues. Then, I went to use the shower down from our bunk and when I left the shower (it was evening) there were roaches outside and in the grass, around the outside of all the bunk houses in our area as well. If it were not for the roach issue I would rate this place 5 stars, it's clean (besides the roaches at night), the staff were all nice and helpful, and the river was great. I would return here if they got ride of the cockroach issue!
