Cold Spring Basecamp is designed to offer a comfortable and enriching camping experience, focusing on providing essential amenities while encouraging a connection with nature. Here are some of the services and provisions you can expect:
- Unique Accommodations: The basecamp features a variety of unique lodging options, including traditional campsites, "open-air cabins" like the "Corn Crib" and "Teela Springs," and even a treehouse (which may be coming soon or already available, offering a truly elevated experience). These cabins are often three-sided, open to the peaceful sounds of nature, and some can be closed up for added comfort.
- Well-Equipped Cabins: The open-air cabins are thoughtfully equipped with basic necessities, making packing easier. This includes items like propane camp stoves, cast iron pots and pans, a French press, and a tea pot for meal preparation. They also feature bunk beds with mattresses, providing an upgrade from traditional tent camping.
- Private Campsites: Traditional campsites are nestled in the woods, often next to a creek, and are designed to be spacious and private. Each site includes a picnic table, a fire ring with a grill for cooking over the fire, and in some cases, a hammock.
- Water Access: For certain accommodations and sites, water is provided from the creek, and a water filter is supplied for purifying drinking water, ensuring clean water for cooking and washing.

Cold Spring Basecamp stands out for its distinctive features that enhance the outdoor experience. Here are some of its key highlights:
- Unique "Open-Air" Cabins: The three-sided cabins offer a unique glamping experience, allowing guests to feel immersed in nature while still having the comfort of a solid structure, mattresses, and a well-equipped camp kitchen. This is a significant upgrade from basic tent camping.
- Seclusion and Space: Unlike many campgrounds where sites are close together, Cold Spring Basecamp provides ample room to spread out. Reviews consistently highlight the feeling of privacy and not being "on top of one another."
- Natural Surroundings: The property encompasses 38 forested acres, featuring beautiful creeks and its own private waterfall, providing stunning natural scenery and opportunities for relaxation.
- On-Site Mountain Bike Trails: Collaborating with local trail builder Chris “Shrimper” Khare, the basecamp offers two fun mountain bike trail loops – a flowy green loop and a more challenging blue loop with drops and steep sections. This is a major draw for cycling enthusiasts.
- Hiking Opportunities: Guests can enjoy hiking trails directly on the property, including treks to the private waterfall and cliffs. The basecamp also serves as an excellent starting point for exploring nearby popular hiking areas like Dupont State Forest.
- Close to Water Activities: Located on a headwater trout stream that feeds the famous Green River, guests have access to paddling options ranging from Class I to V. The proximity to the creek also allows for fun activities like playing in the creek and taking a "cold plunge."
- Eco-Conscious Approach: The owners are committed to environmental protection, preserving trees, removing invasive plants, protecting creek buffers, and utilizing solar power. A portion of proceeds even supports clean water initiatives in Africa.
- Family-Owned History: The property has a rich history, with one of the owners having grown up camping there. Some of the original cabins have been meticulously refurbished, maintaining their rustic charm.

We had a fantastic time in the Corn crib. Cabin was nice and secluded up on the hill. Kids had fun playing in the creek & cold plunge. Close to tubing & hiking/waterfalls. The propane camp stove was nice and made meals easy.
May 27, 2025 · Adrienne NoveyOne of the coolest and most unique camping adventures ever! The campground doesn't feel typical. There's room to spread out without folks being on top of one another. The open air cabin was great for when it rained and having some of the basic necessities made it easier to pack light. If you want an upgrade from tent camping but still want to rough it - this is the place to be.
May 13, 2025 · Kelly HauthHad an amazing stay at the A-Frame campsite at Cold Spring Basecamp. So many fun ways to spend your time with plenty of amenities and well stocked cabins. We will definitely be back for future trips and might even try out some other cabins. Our host on Airbnb was very responsive and welcoming. Overall a 10 out of 10 stay!! ⛺️🌲
May 18, 2025 · Ryan M. WolfeWe had a wonderful two-night stay at Bill’s Cabin for a little friends’ getaway. The space had everything we needed, and it was clear that a lot of thought went into the details. We loved exploring the property’s winding trails and visiting the waterfall. Even with a big storm rolling through, we stayed dry and cozy in the cabin. Looking forward to experiencing the sauna and bathhouse next time—will definitely be back!
Feb 18, 2025 · Rachel BiskerAwesome place to go. Basically at the end of a dead end road so no through traffic period convenient to local highways and interstate. A variety of options from primitive camping to solar-powered A-frame with one bed inside. Owner is in process of building a new bath house for campers. Owner stated he is also planning to add more A-frames which are very nice for two people. There are also several Camp cabins that are closed on three sides with one open front side. They also have solar power and propane cook and one of them even has a heating stove. I believe that's Bill's cabin. Each of them have an outhouse close by. We stayed at the tree house which is a true Treehouse not one of those standing on wooden stilts. The Treehouse has full Plumbing and Electric with a bathroom and walk-in tile shower. One queen bed on main floor with a kitchenette and deck access. Climb the ladder to The Loft and there is another queen bed and small chair but very low ceilings. The Swinging Bridge from the platform to the main house is really neat. Fire pit next to stairs. No Grill. Treehouse very comfortable.
