Its positioning makes it easily accessible from various parts of California, particularly for those traveling from Southern California or the Central Valley.
A significant aspect of its accessibility, highlighted by customer reviews, is its suitability as a stopover "on our way to Yosemite." This indicates that the campground is located along routes commonly used by travelers heading to the national park, making it a convenient and practical choice for breaking up a long journey or for a quieter base from which to explore the region. Road 29 provides direct access to the campground. The roads leading to Codorniz are generally paved and well-maintained, ensuring a smooth drive for all types of vehicles, including RVs and trailers.
While the exact body of water isn't specified in the provided reviews, the "great view" and "recreation area" in its name suggest proximity to a lake or reservoir, which is common for recreation areas in this part of California (e.g., Eastman Lake or Hensley Lake are in the vicinity, though not directly mentioned). This proximity to water bodies often enhances accessibility for water-based activities, further broadening its appeal.
The campground's location, while providing a sense of peace and quiet, is still within reach of local services in towns like Raymond or larger communities in Madera County. This balance between seclusion and convenience ensures that campers can enjoy a natural setting without feeling entirely cut off from supplies or assistance if needed. Mar 29, 2025 · Monica CravenThis place is hot during the summer. Camp rangers here are very nosey. Came to us twice in 20 mins to tell us my son can’t ride my electric scooter cause he doesn’t have a driver license. And I need to have my driver license on me to ride as well. My son is 7 years old with a helmet. Then 20 mins later comes and tells us to turn our music down. Cause it’s too loud. He said music shouldnt leak out within ur camp spot. Mind u it’s 10am and we are camping with 5 of our family’s in this area. Booked this entire campsite section.Pretty sure I’m not coming back here. Especially cause there’s nothing to do here except complain about the heat and the park enforcement
Jun 14, 2025 · rathana veasna (Awak3n_RapidFir3)Very peaceful and calm COE park. We definitely enjoyed our stay here. The staff that received us were extremely helpful and kind. Water pressure was low and the power went out once, but came back after an hour. Dump stations were closed, but we were able to the use the sewer in the site next to when needed. We had a nice gazebo and firepit as well as our own trashcan. During the night you could see all the stars in the sky and hear cow mooing and what sounded like a coyote family howling away. The road getting to our site was a bit narrow for a 42 foot fifth wheel, but manageable. Our site was leveled and accommodated both the fifth wheel and truck. We camped at Codorniz Recreation Area Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
