Clear Lake State Campground embodies the spirit of traditional Michigan camping. It’s a place where the simple joys of a campfire, a good hike, and a refreshing swim in a clear lake are the main attractions. While some reviews mention the challenge of navigating larger RVs through the wooded sites, this very feature is what gives the campground its charm and sense of being truly "Up North." The overgrowth and density of trees, while potentially tricky for large rigs, provide a beautiful sense of seclusion and shade that is highly valued by many campers. The campground is a haven for families, with its designation as "good for kids," a key feature for parents looking for a safe and engaging outdoor environment for their children. The on-site playground and kid-friendly hikes ensure there's always something to do. The availability of clean public toilets and showers, along with running water, provides essential comforts that make the camping experience more enjoyable. As a dog-friendly park, Clear Lake welcomes furry family members, so no one has to be left behind on the trip. The presence of a volleyball court and designated picnic areas with barbecue grills adds to the recreational offerings, allowing campers to mix relaxation with some friendly competition and good food. The park’s appeal is its ability to offer a classic, back-to-nature experience while providing just enough amenities to be comfortable for a multi-day stay. This balance is what makes it a cherished spot for many Michigan residents.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Nice lake nice campground problem is too much overgrowth too many trees and stumps in the sites to hit and damage your vehicle or your larger RVs could definitely use some trimming of the trees. Nobody wants to go out and camp and damage the roof or the AC units on the top of their RVs Let alone most of the campsites here are small and tight 30 amp service. The Only 50 amp service sites they have are pull through sites and the last two years coming here all the pull through sites are full of RVs that are small little single axles rv’s that only have 110 or 20 amp service only meanwhile people with large 50 amp RVs can only get to run one air conditioner without tripping the breakers are getting stuck with little sites with only 30 amp. Service , I think that the pull through sites with 50 amp should be meant for larger RVs with 50 Amp service only makes sense right.

September 25 · Brad ManeyIt was a nice campground in a very small town. The lake is beautiful with a nice swimming area. Seemed like kind of a party campground lol. Bathrooms were clean and nice.
June 20 · Misty WLake is absolutely beautiful! Sites were a bit small but we managed. The shower building could use updating but was always clean. Was busy but quiet at night like the rest! DNR was present.
July 01 · Melissa LeathermanNice campground very close to the lake. Site 141 (pictured) is small and challenging to get level, plus there is no way to get far enough from the fire ring to use it if you have slideouts on both sides.
