Clayton Lake Campground, located just south of the town of Clayton, is a key component of Clayton Lake State Park, a cherished natural gem in Oklahoma. Known for its 66-acre "no wake" lake, the park emphasizes a serene and quiet atmosphere, making it perfect for fishing, passive boating, and simply enjoying the sounds of nature. The campground itself offers a blend of options for both tent and RV campers, accommodating various preferences for an outdoor stay. Visitors frequently praise the helpfulness of the staff, noting their accommodating nature and relaxed approach, even for after-hours arrivals. One happy camper shared, "I arrived the first time after hours. The staff explained the relaxed hours. They are only a call away. Everything is so peacefully aligned with nature. I would recommend tent camping and RV camping with levels." This highlights the friendly local service and the park's commitment to a harmonious outdoor experience.
While some facilities, particularly restrooms and showers, have received mixed reviews regarding their maintenance and cleanliness, it's important to consider this within the context of a public state park, and many still find the overall experience worthwhile due to the beautiful natural setting and the ease of access to the lake and trails. It’s a place where the primary draw is the direct connection with Oklahoma's captivating mountain and lake environments.

For Oklahoma residents, reaching Clayton Lake Campground is a straightforward drive via US-271, a well-maintained highway that winds through the scenic landscape. Clayton Lake Campground Reviews
I arrived the first time after hours. The staff explained the relaxed hours. They are only a call away. Everything is so peacefully aligned with nature. I would recommend tent camping and RV camping with levels. We towed a Urel motorcycle for off road travel.
Oct 06, 2023 · AMYThis is a nice lake but the facilities are often in disrepair and filthy with bugs. The showers often steal your money and leave you standing there naked with no shower after putting coins in. Very frustrating and would expect more out of a State Park if it is receiving tax payer monies.
Aug 28, 2021 · Marie ShawnBeautiful scenery however the hiking trail was all grown up... there were no directions to find the trail we had to ask ... we hiked a little ways and turned around due to overgrowth ...it would be nice if the trail around the small lake was maintained.
Jun 24, 2020 · Choctaw CatNice park, friendly atmosphere, tent camping only $10 a night.
