Christopher Run Campground, a family-owned and operated establishment since 1973, holds the distinction of being the first campground on Lake Anna. What began as a modest endeavor with a picnic shelter and a boat ramp has blossomed into a sprawling destination featuring over 200 campsites, 9 cabins, 2 full-service lodges, and 3 rental RVs. Three generations of the Bazzanella family actively manage the campground, imbuing it with a personal touch that resonates deeply with visitors. This commitment to a family-oriented environment is consistently praised by campers, many of whom consider it their favorite place for summer getaways.
The campground’s primary allure is its direct access to Lake Anna, a vast and beautiful 13,000-acre lake renowned for its fishing and water sports. Beyond the immediate lake activities, Christopher Run is designed to cater to a wide array of camping preferences, from those who prefer primitive tent camping to those who desire the full comforts of an RV with complete hookups, or even cabin and lodge rentals for a more glamping-style experience. The comprehensive facilities and friendly, helpful staff ensure that guests, whether staying for a night or the entire summer, have everything they need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. While acknowledging that some facilities, like the laundry room and older bathhouses, may be "dated" or have accessibility limitations, the overall positive experience, especially the excellent fishing and the general atmosphere, consistently draws campers back.
Christopher Run Campground is conveniently located at 6478 Zachary Taylor Hwy, Mineral, VA 23117, USA. This address places it directly on the shores of Lake Anna, a prominent recreational lake in central Virginia, primarily spanning Louisa and Spotsylvania counties.

It is situated approximately one hour away from major central Virginia cities like Richmond, Charlottesville, and Fredericksburg, making it an ideal weekend getaway destination. Access is via well-maintained state highways, primarily Route 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway), which leads directly to the campground entrance. Christopher Run Campground Reviews
My husband and I started coming here last year. This is now our favorite place to camp and fish. The fishing from shore is great! Caught quite a few largemouth and decent size as well. The ladies in the office are always so pleasant and ready to help in any way possible. We will see you in 4 days! We are super excited!
Apr 10, 2025 · Angela LacoyWe love it here. We bring our camper and spend most of our summer days here. Lake is beautiful. Has a small mini golf course and playground. The staff is great. The laundry room is dated and not wheelchair accessible. The bath house needs some love and although there is a wheelchair accessible stall there isn't an accessible shower stall. Definitely not super close to a bigger town but a few small towns with the basics within 15 mins. A small strip with a Food Lion and things 5-,6 mins away. The good size towns/cities 45 mins away.
Apr 08, 2025 · Amber JacksonGreat place Monday thru Thursday. Weekend comes and so do the loud drunks. It’s not Christopher run so much it’s people has no camping etiquette anymore. I’m here now and a neighbor has 14 trucks here parting like crazy. Loud Spanish music and I complained and was told complain to the guard shack latter on if it’s still a problem. 🙄
Jun 01, 2025 · David HeadrickWe had a great time of camping here with friends. We will definitely come back and camp again. We camped here again in May of 2025. This is our third time camping here with friends. I did drop my review two stars because quiet time is not enforced very well. We had multiple loud trucks driving past our tent literally all night long. Totally unacceptable. My truck isn’t quiet by any means but I’m not driving it around the campground at 1 in the morning either. Visiting hours needs to be enforced more. Also bath house could use a facelift.
May 18, 2025 · Steve DerstineBest camping spot on Lake Anna. Very convenient to get on the water with multiple launch spots. The folks in the store are always very helpful and knowledgeable. We've tent camped for years and stayed in the cabins a couple times and haven't had any issue. We pay extra to keep our boat here during the summer and it’s definitely worth it!
