Location and Accessibility
China Meadows Campground is located on Forest Rd 125, near Evanston, WY 82930, USA. Its address places it on the northern, less-traveled side of the Uinta Mountains, making it a perfect spot for those who want to avoid the busier areas of the range. The campground is nestled near China Lake and the China Meadows Trailhead, which is a popular starting point for exploring the rugged terrain of the High Uintas Wilderness.
Accessibility is a key feature, as the campground is not too far from the town of Evanston, yet feels wonderfully remote. It’s designed to accommodate both RV and tent campers, and each site includes on-site parking for convenience. While the drive involves a forest road, it is generally accessible for most vehicles. For those looking to explore the backcountry, the trailhead provides a clear path into the mountains. It's important to note that due to the remote nature of the area and its high elevation, cell phone service is not available at the campground. July 15 · Jeffery NobleNice low key spot, not too far from town but far enough to be quiet.
November 24 · Brad ThorntonAlways a great place to visit. However the trash left behind the past few years is very saddening.
September 17 · H8LiberalsReally nice area on the north face of the Uintas. Try it out for a much less crowded, more primitive camping experience.
September 05 · Brenden HaueterNice campground. Nice secluded feeling at night. Anyone with a large RV I would advise caution in staying in this campground as the loop around it is narrow and difficult to maneuver. I have a 19’ trailer and damaged it on a tree and a boulder on the ground. This campground is very lightly used but really well maintained. Kudos to the cleaners of the outhouse, very clean!! Very beautiful location at a high elevation for nice cool nights.
