Our aim in this article is to give you a clear, engaging, and factual overview of what makes this local gem a compelling choice for residents across our beautiful state.
Cartier Park Campground is highly regarded for its beautiful natural setting and diverse offerings. As part of the larger Cartier Park natural area, it boasts "80 acres of mature trees," providing "plenty of shade" for campers—a significant plus during warm Michigan summers. The park offers various site types, including full hookup (electric, water, and sewer), electric and water only, electric only, and rustic (non-hookup) sites, catering to a wide range of camping preferences. Each site typically comes with a fire pit and picnic table, perfect for enjoying outdoor meals and campfire stories.
Beyond the individual campsites, the overall park environment is a major draw. Visitors frequently praise the cleanliness of the facilities, with restrooms and showers noted as "clean and well maintained." The staff at the front office are often described as "nice and helpful," indicating a commitment to guest satisfaction. While there have been isolated reports of issues, such as a misunderstanding with booking dates through the website and occasional noise disturbances after quiet hours (which, thankfully, were promptly addressed by park management), the general consensus points to a positive and enjoyable experience for the majority of campers. The presence of an on-site office providing essentials like wood, ice, and local information further enhances convenience, allowing campers to settle in without immediate need to venture far.

Cartier Park Campground Reviews
Booked the reservation on web. Put in my dates for July. One available site. I grabbed it. Turns out the available site that I paid for was not the date I selected. The dates changed to June. We received a call this morning from a very rude lady asking where we were as our check-in was yesterday. We explained the situation. No refund, no "sorry to hear that", no negotiations for future use with any type of credit. The person couldn't have cared less. I will never recommend this campground. Beware of the booking site, it may have a bug or new feature to offer alternative dates if your date has no availability.
Jun 28, 2025 · Mary Tweed FosterIt was about to not be a fun experience due to some degenerate parents letting their kids scream and run around all night long. 2 hours after quiet hours started I finally called the park manager who handled it promptly.Overall the park is really nice. The facilities are clean and the staff at the front were really nice and helpful.
Jun 14, 2025 · mattwigs9We booked this campground online, without really looking over the sites.Short trip from the Ferry ⛴️ which was very convenient. Prices are very reasonable, water and 30 amp electric. All in all the campground is very very nice, however, try to get a sight AWAY from the road!!! It is very busy with traffic and very noisy, thus the 3 stars.
Jun 07, 2025 · Bruce DahlmanI don’t recommend staying at Cartier Park Campground. We had a group of about 15 - 20 of us that camped out this weekend. Half of our party were kids looking to have a good time camping. We wanted a break from everyday reality and wanted to give kids a fun experience. Daytime was fine but when it came down to night time they called “quiet time” at 10. (It doesn’t get dark until after 10 this time of year, but kids were being kids and enjoying stories around campfire when a manager came up to our site and told us they had “numerous complaints” from our site being loud, and next time someone came to our site it would be the police. We had to wrap it up and all went to bed. This is not what we expected our camping trip to be for our kids. Not to mention the next night (Saturday) there was a police cruiser parked a few spots down from us for a couple of hours and he made his rounds at 10pm.We will not go back and I urge anyone looking for a good time or anyone with children to not go there either.
Jun 16, 2025 · Skyler PotterIt was our first time visiting and we had a very nice experience. Sites and facilities were spacious and well maintained. Office staff were extremely pleasant. I will suggest this to others as a strong alternative to the state park knowing how quickly it books up.
