Carolina Hemlocks Recreation Area

6000 NC-80, Burnsville, NC 28714, USA

4.0
This is such a great little campground for summer family camping. It is not too crazy busy and right on the river which is perfect for tubing and swimming (if you can handle the cold water bring a mask and swim through the river looking at all the rocks that line the bottom). There are are lots of rocks on the banks that are perfect for climbing on and adventuring for kids (not for actual rock climbing) campsites have plenty of space, picnic table, fire ring and tent pad with space to park one vehicle. There are bathrooms and showers, but the showers are not heated. Close to a lot of hiking, waterfalls, the blue ridge parkway, and about an hour from mount mitchell. - Mollie Tobias
