For New Yorkers seeking a peaceful and impeccably maintained escape into nature, Cardinal Campground in Campbell, NY, offers a compelling choice. Nestled within the scenic landscape that hints at the nearby beauty of the Finger Lakes region, this campground is celebrated by visitors for its quiet charm and dedicated owners. If your idea of a perfect camping trip involves a serene environment, spacious sites, and a welcoming atmosphere, then Cardinal Campground is well worth the drive, even for those located 90 minutes away, as one satisfied camper attested.
The essence of Cardinal Campground lies in its commitment to providing a tranquil and well-cared-for experience. Reviews consistently highlight its "quiet, small, and well kept" nature, making it an ideal spot for those looking to genuinely relax and unwind. Visitors spending extended periods, like "2 1/2 weeks visiting family," rave about how "peaceful" it is and how "great" the owners are. This dedication to maintaining a pristine environment, evident in the "well kept and mowed" areas, combined with the friendly and accommodating nature of the staff, creates an inviting atmosphere where campers feel truly at home.
Cardinal Campground understands that a truly great camping experience often comes down to the details: a clean site, a reliable fire pit, and a helpful face. While it may offer a more focused set of amenities compared to large resorts, this approach ensures a high standard of quality in what it does provide. It's a place where you can enjoy the simple pleasures of outdoor living, surrounded by natural beauty, and leave feeling refreshed. For New York locals, it represents an excellent opportunity to discover a beloved, smaller campground that prioritizes peace, cleanliness, and genuine hospitality.
Cardinal Campground is conveniently situated at 7323 Dee Rd, Campbell, NY 14821, USA. This location places it within the broader region of New York's renowned Finger Lakes, an area celebrated for its stunning lakes, picturesque vineyards, charming towns, and abundant recreational opportunities. While not directly on one of the major Finger Lakes, its proximity allows for easy exploration of the region's attractions.
For New York residents, accessing Cardinal Campground is generally straightforward, though a key piece of advice from experienced campers is crucial for a smooth arrival. As one reviewer wisely noted, if you're heading east, be sure to "take the road out of Campbell (I think it's exit 39 off the highway or 40, Savona), NOT the more western one if you're heading east; GPS may take you off exit 41 up a very long and rough dirt road." This guidance suggests that while GPS is helpful, confirming the best route, likely via Exit 39 or 40 off a major highway (presumably I-86/Route 17), will ensure a pleasant approach. Campbell itself is a smaller, quieter community, contributing to the campground's peaceful ambiance. Its location provides a convenient base for exploring the diverse offerings of the Southern Tier and western Finger Lakes, from wineries and state parks to historic sites and charming villages. The ease of access, once the correct route is known, makes it a practical choice for a weekend escape or a longer vacation.

- Laundry Facilities: On-site laundry services are provided, adding convenience for longer stays.
- Weekly Clean Outs: For sites without sewer hookups, the campground offers a valuable weekly clean-out service for a small fee, addressing a common need for RVers.

Cardinal Campground Reviews
I've stayed here a few times and it's quite nice. I live about 90 minutes from here but its worth the drive. If you are looking for a quiet, small, and well kept campground: come here.
Feb 08, 2024 · Logan WheelerWe were there recently visiting family for 2 1/2 weeks. It was so peaceful and the owners are great. Area was well kept and mowed. Firepit and picnic table at each site. I didn't use the bathrooms, pool or laundry facilities. The only downside was no sewer hookup, but they offer weekly clean outs for a small fee. If you go, be sure to take the road out of Campbell (I think it's exit 39 off the highway or 40, Savona), NOT the more western one if you're heading east; GPS may take you off exit 41 up a very long and rough dirt road.
Aug 28, 2023 · Kathleen HudsonHad a great time at CC this summer. Went on a wine tour of the finger lakes and camped here. The owners are an extremely nice family who will go out of their way to make the guests happy. They have very large sites with water and electricity and most of the guests are long term campers...so its nice an quiet. Thanks so much for a great weekend!
Sep 06, 2014 · T.j. RissingThis was the first time at cardinal campground in 20 yrs. Very nice, lots of shade, big sites. Our rig was to long to access the dump station. Everything else was fine. Friendly, and quiet.
Sep 08, 2020 · Bill HargraveVery nice family employees who made sure we had everything we needed. Nothing but peace and quiet. Would have given 5 stars but our purchased firewood was too green to burn. Would definitely go back !
