Whether you're a seasoned RVer or a family looking for a memorable tent camping trip, Canyon Rim provides a high-elevation escape that feels both wild and welcoming.
Unlike some of the more bustling campgrounds, Canyon Rim is known for its spacious sites and a sense of solitude. As one visitor noted, they had the place almost to themselves in the early fall, which speaks to its ability to offer a quiet, personal experience with nature. The campground is situated in a grassy meadow with scattered ponderosa pines, providing a classic high-country environment. The peaceful setting is perfect for those who want to disconnect and simply enjoy the sights and sounds of the outdoors. The highlight for many, however, is the campground's proximity to the canyon rim itself, where a short walk leads to spectacular overlooks.
One of the most memorable aspects of a stay here is the potential for incredible wildlife sightings. A reviewer mentioned having a herd of bighorn sheep walk right through their campsite, an experience that truly connects you with the wild heart of Utah. This is a place where nature isn't just a backdrop; it's an active part of the camping experience. The campground also serves as an excellent base for exploring the wider Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, with the visitor center and Flaming Gorge Dam just a short drive away. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Gorgeous campground! We were there in early October and pretty much had the place to ourselves. Can't wait to go back again! Clean pit toilets. Bear safe dumpsters. Seasonal water spouts (turned off during our trip).
November 09 · Sarah JohnsonAmazing location, close enough that it's only 15 minutes-ish to the marina. Close to the visitor center where the staff (Dennis and Christina) were funny, knew their stuff and made my 2 kids feel special. One of the best things about this campsite is you can do a short walk to several amazing lookout sites with amazing views. Restroom was clean. The highlight of our trip was having a herd of big horn sheep walk through our campsite.
August 14 · Bryan ParkPretty impressive view. Did not camp. Just drove in for view!
July 10 · Charlene SwankieThis is a very nice campground. Nice level paved sites.. The cleanest vault toilets I've encountered which I appreciate a lot. Some nice walks nearby. Pretty view of the canyon and river close.
July 19 · Margaret NelsonBeautiful Rim views and well spaced sites. Camp Host is genial and efficient. We arrived at 11 am on a Friday and got space 11 first come first served. There is a dump station out toward Dutch John's at the marina just past Fireman's campground. $7 bucks. Lovely hiking and site seeing here. Will return.
