Many visitors appreciate the ease of getting in and out of the park, a crucial factor for those traveling with larger rigs. Understanding what to expect from any campground helps in planning your trip, and Campgrounds of the South aims to be transparent about its offerings. While some elements, like noise from nearby I-10, are part of its convenient location, the park focuses on delivering essential services. For Mississippians looking for a direct, efficient, and well-located RV park on the Gulf Coast, Campgrounds of the South provides a solid option that prioritizes accessibility and fundamental RV needs.
Campgrounds of the South is strategically located at 10406 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport, MS 39503, USA. Its most significant advantage in terms of location and accessibility is its immediate proximity to Interstate 10 (I-10). This makes it incredibly "very easy to get in and out of" for RVers traveling east or west across the Southern United States. Whether you're coming from New Orleans or heading towards Mobile, the campground's direct access to a major interstate simplifies navigation and reduces travel time, which is particularly beneficial for those with larger RVs or those on a long journey.
For Mississippi locals, this means the campground is a convenient hub for exploring the Gulf Coast region. Gulfport, a bustling city, surrounds the campground with numerous services and attractions. Within a short distance, campers can access various amenities crucial for an RV trip, including gas stations, grocery stores, and repair services. Beyond necessities, the location offers easy access to Gulfport's entertainment options. As one reviewer highlighted, an "Uber to the casino in Gulfport" is a mere 14 dollars, making entertainment readily available without needing to drive your RV.
Directions to the campground are straightforward from I-10: take Exit 34B onto US 49 North (towards Hattiesburg), then take a right at the first traffic light (Landon Road, often associated with Crossroads Outlet Mall). From Landon Road, turn left onto Three Rivers Road, and the campground will be a short distance on your right. This direct route, combined with the presence of multiple local amenities, firmly establishes Campgrounds of the South as a highly accessible and practical choice for RVers navigating the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

- Full Hookup Sites: The campground provides 140 full-service sites, meaning each site includes city water, sewer, and electrical hookups (30 and 50 amp service available). This is a crucial convenience for RVers, allowing them to operate all onboard systems without interruption.
- Large Pull-Through Sites: Many sites are designed as large pull-throughs, which significantly simplifies the process of parking and exiting for larger RVs and those towing vehicles.
- Concrete Pads: A notable feature, as mentioned by customers, are the "great concrete pads." While some may have minor imperfections, these pads generally offer a level, stable, and cleaner surface for parking your RV compared to gravel or dirt sites.
- Cable TV: Each site includes TV Cable access, though a deposit might be required for a digital Cable TV box, which is refunded upon return.
- Free WiFi: The park provides free Wi-Fi access, allowing guests to stay connected, whether for work, entertainment, or planning their next adventure.

- Propane Available: Propane is available on-site, a convenient service for RVers needing to refill their tanks.
- Office Hours: The office typically operates during daytime hours, with reservations generally required by phone or in person with advance payment.
These services aim to cover the fundamental needs of RV travelers, making Campgrounds of the South a practical choice for those passing through or staying to explore the Gulfport area.
Campgrounds of the South, while operating as a functional RV park, has several key features and highlights that appeal to its target audience. Understanding these can help potential visitors determine if it aligns with their camping preferences:
- Exceptional I-10 Accessibility: A standout feature, as highlighted by reviewers, is the "very easy to get in and out of from I-10." This direct access is invaluable for RVers, especially those with large rigs, minimizing navigation challenges and maximizing travel efficiency. It's a significant convenience for both transient and longer-term guests.
- Full Hookup Concrete Pads: The provision of "great concrete pads" with full hookups (water, sewer, electric, cable TV, and free Wi-Fi) at 140 sites is a major highlight. While one review noted a "huge sunken portion" on a pad, the general offering of concrete ensures a more stable, level, and cleaner setup compared to gravel or grass sites. These are designed to accommodate RVs up to 60 feet.
- Proximity to Gulfport Attractions: The campground's location puts it within easy reach of Gulfport's popular attractions. The ability to take a "14 dollar Uber to the casino in Gulfport" underscores its convenience for those looking to enjoy local entertainment without having to drive or find parking for their RV. It's close to shopping, restaurants, the Gulfport Sportsplex, malls, hospitals, and various casinos.
- 24-Hour Security: The presence of 24-hour security provides an added layer of peace of mind for campers, ensuring a more secure environment for their RVs and belongings.
- Group-Friendly Clubhouse: The availability of a clubhouse for RV groups or individuals offers a valuable communal space for gatherings, fostering a sense of community among guests.
- Year-Round Operation: Campgrounds of the South is open year-round, allowing flexibility for travelers to visit at any time, which is particularly beneficial for snowbirds or those seeking a mild climate for winter camping.
- Pet-Friendly Policy: The campground welcomes pets, allowing travelers to bring their furry companions along on their adventures (with typical leash and cleanup requirements).
It's important to note that while the I-10 proximity offers excellent accessibility, it also means that "I 10 only about 150 ft away and WILL keep you up all night" due to road noise, especially for those sensitive to sound. Additionally, the limited hours for the shower house and restrooms ("closed 7pm-7am") are a practical consideration for some campers. Despite these points, the overall convenience, full hookups, and prime location remain strong highlights for many RVers.

Campgrounds of the South Reviews
This campground is very easy to get in and out of from I-10. Our spot was easy to to pull into and out of, but was not level, had a huge sunken portion of the pad, it didn't affect us, just letting future RV'ers know. There is a shower house and restrooms, but they are closed 7pm-7am. A 14 dollar Uber to the casino in Gulfport, i recommend this park.
Feb 26, 2025 · Darin CrowellONLY good thing about CG of the South is price, but we would pay twice as much for a clean park. Office NEVER open so as a short term visitor you cannot get your mail or packages. Dirty laundry room. NO other amenities. I 10 only about 150 ft away and WILL keep you up all night
Feb 26, 2025 · Lovy HowellClean campground, concrete slabs and safe location. If you are in Gulfport and worry about where to go, this is a good place. I was able to keep my stuff out and nothing happened to it. The lots are relatively inexpensive. Management is great and keeps an eye on the place well. The owner will drive around making sure everything is good. Power has never been an issue. Mine and my husband’s parents live near here so we will be coming back to this park for future visits.
Apr 14, 2024 · arrealle windham3 night stay, park does not drain well, large puddles of water in road and at out site.very good location to I-10, restaurants and stores. Site was concrete and level, easy in and out. Some road noise, good cell signals.
