They were incredibly kind and attentive, especially with our little ones. The outdoor areas are absolutely beautiful you can really see the care and pride they put into maintaining the facility. The restrooms, showers, and family suites were all exceptionally clean and comfortable. Each day was planned with fun activities to keep our kids entertained. From bath-bomb making to kite making and movie night your kids will thank you! The staff truly made everything seamless and enjoyable. And the food? Absolutely amazing! Huge compliments to the chef for the delicious meals served at breakfast, lunch, and dinner! We 100% recommend staying at Camp Tahuaya! Don’t for get to purchase your adventure pass and meal pass. Those really make the experience PHENOMENAL!
May 26 · Lexy SarinanaFor 93 years this place has been only open to the scouting community. What an amazing opportunity we have now to not only see one of the largest natural springs in Texas but to do so in comfort in their new glamping tents and cabins that have AC! This place is special and something you really don't find anymore. History comes to life when you are able hike on several trails and touch the wagon ruts carved into the limestone rock from long ago pioneers who traveled the Chisholm Trail. Modern conveniences like extra wide, newly paved streets allow for ample bike riding around the campground and RV spots. Well-designed family suite tents that sleep up to 6 are grouped around large fire rings for nightly gatherings around the fire. The beautiful spring-fed lake that has attracted people for centuries is the real jewel of the crown here with kayaks and canoes available for exploration. Perfectly situated just one mile off I-35 an hour north of Austin, Camp Tahuaya allows you the chance to get back to nature without having to sacrifice much in the way of comfort. Day passes also available if an overnight stay is not possible. Unplug your family and go have adventures again at Camp Tahuaya!
September 01 · Jennifer PhelpsCleanest and funnest campsite we’ve been to with the best Texas hospitality! - signed experienced camping family (private and public parks and attending scout camps.)We came with 10 other families, our preteen and teen aged children for a long weekend and had a great time!*lodging: They had accommodations and activities for every type of camper. Some of us stayed in cabins, the wall tents, and the Suites. We stayed at the Rustic group site Limestone Flats, It had plenty of shade, spacious covered pavillion, large rock fire ring + trash can.*Facilities: our site was also a close walk to clean flushing toilets+ showers and the sparkling, refreshing pool (such a blessing in the texas heat) The boys and girls had a great time kayaking + paddle boarding on Lake Callan and on the hiking trails as well as the makerspace lab.IMO one of the other highlights is just the wide open well maintained fields for the kids to just be kids playing flag football or spike ball. The communal spaces like the big fire pits and view from the Air Conditioned bistro are just so relaxing. My husband and I also enjoyed yoga overlooking the lake as well as taking out Canoes.DO download the campers app! It was so helpful to let our crew know when activities were starting and we were able to get safety updates during a storm. There’s an HEB plus 7min away but the camp store has cold drinks, a few snacks, allergy meds, camping supplies, and souvenirs. Lots of courtesy games and pool toys.*Dining: We usually bring our own food camping but decided to take advantage of the meal passes, and just bring snacks. We were very happy with their menu. Grilled burgers and hotdogs by the pool one night was such a treat.*Hospitality: ALL the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed or answer any questions. We forgot a knife for our watermelon and they helped us out. The staff is also very experienced leading activities for kids and being welcoming.10/10 already talking about when to come back!
May 26 · nadine durrenbergerI’ve been coming to Camp Tahuaya for years, and the transformation over the past two years has been incredible! Whether you're a seasoned camper or new to the outdoors, you’ll feel right at home. The improvements make it more welcoming than ever.Parking is easy, and the program opportunities are fantastic—offering adventure, skill-building, and plenty of ways to enjoy nature. The campground itself is absolutely beautiful, with upgraded facilities and a peaceful atmosphere. If you haven’t been to Tahuaya in a while, come see the difference. You won’t be disappointed!Fishing in Spring fed lake for trout and the archery range are my favorites. Clean modern facilities are very appreciated. What a great experience for youth and families!
April 02 · Jeff ShawTraveling on the road for spring break and thought we’d stop and check Camp Tahuaya out for a future family vacation. So much camping charm! I like the common areas and there’s plenty of space between the different camping option sites. There’s power and AC/heating units in the glamping tents so I’m planning to book one of those for our family of five. There’s activities, food, and bedding provided so now we just have to show up.
