We spent a wonderful weekend at Camp Okeechobee last month. We have a 36' toy hauler and we were pleased with the size of the brand new campsites with 50 amp electrical, water hookup, picnic tables and a fire pit. The sites are all pull through and easy to access and although we started off a little wet, the area dried up quickly. The adjoining outdoor gun range is extensive with many lanes and a very friendly staff. Made for a great weekend complete with beautiful sunsets with good friends! - Michele Riley

Camp Okeechobee offers a distinctive blend of traditional camping and access to exhilarating recreational opportunities. It’s noted for its brand-new campsites, designed to accommodate a range of setups from large RVs to cozy tents. One delighted visitor with a 36' toy hauler praised the "size of the brand new campsites with 50 amp electrical, water hookup, picnic tables and a fire pit," noting that the "sites are all pull through and easy to access." This attention to practical design ensures a smooth and hassle-free arrival, even for larger rigs.

What truly sets Camp Okeechobee apart is its adjacency to a comprehensive outdoor gun range and a motocross track. This unique combination caters to a specific niche of outdoor enthusiasts, allowing campers to seamlessly integrate their favorite sports into their camping trip. Reviewers highlight the "extensive" gun range with "many lanes and a very friendly staff," making for "a great weekend complete with beautiful sunsets with good friends!" For those who enjoy these activities, the convenience of having them right next door is unparalleled. The campground is also "dog friendly, if they mind their manners," which is a big plus for many Floridians traveling with their furry companions.

It's important to note that Camp Okeechobee is a relatively new establishment, and as such, they are "fairly new and they have not finished with all the things they have planned to put in." This means that while current amenities are well-maintained, there's exciting potential for future developments. Despite being "out in the middle of no where," which many find to be "exactly what we were looking for," the team, including helpful staff like Kevin who assisted a late-arriving camper with getting settled and even finding firewood, ensures a welcoming and accommodating experience. The opportunity to witness "cows right behind our site" adds to the charming, rustic atmosphere that many seek in a natural escape, proving that Camp Okeechobee offers a truly unique slice of Florida's heartland.

Camp Okeechobee is located at 6537 48th St NE, Okeechobee, FL 34972, USA. This address places it within Okeechobee County, a region of Florida celebrated for its natural beauty, particularly the vast Lake Okeechobee, often referred to as Florida's "inland sea." While the campground itself is described as "out in the middle of nowhere," this is precisely what many campers seek for a true escape, offering tranquility away from urban noise.

Despite its secluded feel, Camp Okeechobee maintains reasonable accessibility for Floridians. It is situated off of a less-traveled road, offering a quiet approach to the park. The review mentioning its proximity to the Okeechobee Shooting Sports range and a motocross track provides a clear landmark for navigation. For those traveling from South Florida, it's noted as being "just a little over an hour away from Phil Foster Memorial Park in Riviera," indicating that it's within a manageable driving distance for a weekend trip or longer stay from many populated areas of the state.

The location in Okeechobee also means access to the town of Okeechobee itself, which is described as "only a 10 minute drive away where you will find shopping and restaurants." This provides a convenient balance, allowing campers to immerse themselves in nature and activities at the park while still having easy access to essential supplies and dining options when needed. This blend of remote adventure and practical accessibility makes Camp Okeechobee a well-situated destination for Florida locals.
