Location and Accessibility
Camp Dune is strategically located at 15001 Ln 4 N, Mosca, CO 81146, USA. This address places it in the heart of the majestic San Luis Valley, a vast intermountain basin in south-central Colorado. Its primary draw for many visitors, especially Coloradans, is its close proximity to the renowned Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve.
The campground is easily accessible by vehicle. Mosca is a small community situated on U.S. Route 160, a major highway connecting various parts of southern Colorado. From U.S. 160, visitors will typically turn onto a well-maintained local road (like Lane 4 N) that leads directly to the campground. The drive itself offers scenic views of the vast San Luis Valley, framed by the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the east and the San Juan Mountains to the west.
The proximity to Great Sand Dunes National Park is a significant advantage, often allowing for short drives (typically 15-30 minutes, depending on the exact location within the park and the campground's spot) to the park's entrance, visitor center, and main dune access points. This convenient access means more time for exploring the dunes, hiking, or experiencing other park activities, and less time commuting.
For Coloradans traveling from Denver or Colorado Springs, the drive involves heading south on I-25 before connecting to U.S. 160. The clear address and readily available phone numbers make navigation to Camp Dune straightforward, even for those unfamiliar with the immediate area. Jun 21, 2025 · Monica FryskaDexter was our host, and he was amazing. Super helpful and let us stay here when we couldn't find a spot. Even though it was a really late notice, he understood and helped us get a spot and showed us how everything worked. The spot was gorgeous with amazing views and a central area, keeping you close to all the amazing things that surround the property. It was a lifesaver having restrooms there as well as the provided grill and everything that was included in the Cantina. Overall, a very pleasant experience and would recommend.
May 27, 2025 · CarsonMurr322 -My stay here was absolutely perfect! I forgot my tent stakes but Dexter and Bella had plenty for me to borrow. The restroom and outdoor shower was such a nice luxury while camping here! The food at the cantina was delicious. Our hosts (Dexter, Bella, and Chris) were so kind and accommodating! I highly recommend staying here when in the valley!!
Jun 22, 2025 · Bre SchlitzerThis place was great, I just went there for memorial weekend with four other buddies and we called super late cause we couldn’t find a campsite anywhere else and Dexter answered and was the most helpful person ever. We got to the campsite super late Close to 11 and Dexter still offered to show us around everywhere making sure we got the best experience. All of the sites he has on the property are all well spread apart so you don’t have to worry about disturbing other people from just a normal conversation. The location is 30 Ish minutes away from the sand dunes but for me personally I don’t mind the Drive because you get to look at the mountains the entire time. Dexter and his lady were always on the property fixing something to make it better for the people around and at any time you need him he will stop what he’s doing to come help. I will definitely be coming back to this camp ground!!!
May 27, 2025 · Kolton HanksSpent 3 amazing days here in June. Camp hosts Dexter, Bella and Chris were so hospitable looking after our every need. I've done a couple of safaris in Africa. This is the experience they are looking to offer and they nailed it. Great views of the Sangre De Cristo Mountains and the Dunes. Options to rough it with your own tent or stay in one of the Dome or Safari Tents (my choice). The queen bed, bedside tables, battery pack, hot showers, campfires all made for a "glamping experience". They saw to our every need while retaining the wilderness experience and some of the darkest, star-filled skies in Colorado. Even our Ord's Kangaroo friends came out to dance with us beside the campfire! Cannot recommend this place highly enough.
