Learning to swim is a valuable life skill, and having it integrated into a local summer camp program is a significant advantage for New York parents. However, it is crucial for New York parents to be fully informed when considering Buchanan Village Day Camp. While one positive review highlights a child's enjoyment and skill development, other reviews express serious concerns regarding bullying and the camp's handling of such incidents. These concerns, including allegations of a lack of effective intervention, a "no refunds" policy even in challenging circumstances, and dismissive responses to parental complaints, are significant and warrant careful consideration. The disparity in experiences suggests that while some children may thrive, others might face considerable challenges.
Therefore, while the camp offers local convenience and desirable activities like swimming, prospective New York families are strongly advised to conduct thorough due diligence. This should include direct conversations with the camp administration about their anti-bullying policies, staff training, and conflict resolution strategies. Inquiring about staff-to-camper ratios, how specific incidents are documented and addressed, and requesting references from other parents could provide a more complete picture. Ensuring that a camp's environment aligns with your family's values and your child's specific needs, especially concerning safety and emotional well-being, is paramount. For New Yorkers, Buchanan Village Day Camp is a local option, but a comprehensive investigation by parents is essential before making an enrollment decision.

Buchanan Village Day Camp Reviews
My child has been bullied at the Buchanan Camp and I’ve been calling and writing to them repeatedly and the owner has the nerve to send me the Wikipedia definition of bullying and tells me she’s not a Counslor and refuses to set up a meeting with the children’s parents and states “boys will be boys” in a recent email. Kids are pushing him into the pool; pulling their pants off and shoving their butt in my kids face and ganging up on him and saying he’s a liar and pushing him into the sand. My son comes home telling me his heart is broken and he’s afraid. He’s only 7. Born a premie at 1 pound. Kids his age are significantly bigger and taller. His weight is 33 compared to the average child of 55-60 pounds. His height is 34 inches compared to the average child of 46 to 54 inches and they dare write me and say he generally looks happy and I’m using the word bullying loosely. You can easily tell who is my sweet Brandon. He has a twin sister who has witnessed the abuse helplessly. The two Counslor tell him to say away from them. Really. How can he! It’s so sad. They’ve had to stay home locked up in the house with my mom because the camp refuses to acknowledge the abuse and I can’t send them there knowing they are being abused. It’s a horrible feeling when the director states “boys will be boys”. Seriously. And of course I prepaid thousands of dollars and they have a policy of no refunds. What can I do but leave them home with my mom who doesn’t drive and they need to stay home bored to protect them. Buchanan camp is not recommended. I’ll post the emails if necessary. I’m going to contact the better business bureau!THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!! THEY ALLOW CHILDREN TO BE BULLIED AND DO NOTHING ABOUT IT!! DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILDREN TO THIS CAMP DO NOT PAY SO MUCH MONEY FOR THIS CAMP FOR YOUR CHILDREN TO BE BULLIED SCARED FEELING UNSAFE!!
