For those of us in Mississippi who cherish the tranquility of the outdoors and the unique bond with horses, finding a truly accommodating and peaceful retreat can be a real treasure. Look no further than Brushy Creek Ranch, nestled in the scenic landscapes of Gloster, MS. This hidden gem offers a distinctive camping experience, particularly for equestrian enthusiasts, providing an escape from the everyday hustle and an opportunity to reconnect with nature on horseback.
Brushy Creek Ranch isn't just a place to park your RV or pitch a tent; it's a dedicated haven for those who love trail riding and the serene atmosphere of rural Mississippi. Unlike typical campgrounds, Brushy Creek Ranch specializes in catering to horse owners, offering facilities and an environment specifically designed for equestrian activities. However, even if you don't bring a horse, the ranch promises a quiet and relaxing getaway, allowing you to unwind amidst the beautiful natural surroundings. This article aims to provide a comprehensive overview of Brushy Creek Ranch, detailing its unique offerings, location, and why it stands out as an excellent choice for local Mississippians seeking a genuine outdoor adventure.
Brushy Creek Ranch is conveniently located at 5939 E Homochitto Rd, Gloster, MS 39638, USA. This address places it within the picturesque and often undulating terrain of Amite County, in the southwestern part of Mississippi. Gloster itself is a small, charming town, offering a glimpse into the rural beauty and laid-back pace of life characteristic of this part of the state.
The ranch's location offers a sense of seclusion and immersion in nature, while still being relatively accessible. For Mississippians traveling from larger urban centers like Jackson or Baton Rouge (Louisiana, but a common travel point for southern MS residents), the drive typically involves navigating well-maintained state highways and then transitioning to more rural roads as you approach Gloster. East Homochitto Road, while rural, is generally passable, accommodating vehicles hauling horse trailers or RVs.
The beauty of its location lies in its proximity to the Homochitto National Forest, a vast expanse of woodlands that provides the backdrop for many of the area's outdoor recreational opportunities. While Brushy Creek Ranch operates independently, its surrounding environment offers a similar sense of natural beauty and an abundance of trails. Visitors can expect a tranquil drive through scenic landscapes, with ample opportunities to experience the untouched charm of rural Mississippi. It’s a destination that feels far removed from city life, yet remains within a reasonable driving distance for many across the state.

While the ranch offers a unique and specialized experience, it's also important to note that, like any outdoor destination, conditions can vary. A recent review from April 2023 indicated challenges with ground maintenance, where the "grass so high you could not see the creek or the pond" and "complete grounds were unusable." This suggests that while the core offering of horse trails and a peaceful environment remains, it's advisable to contact the ranch directly or check recent reviews for the most up-to-date information on ground conditions, especially if specific amenities like pond or creek access are central to your planned activities. This proactive step can help manage expectations and ensure a more satisfying visit.

Brushy Creek Ranch Reviews
Great place to get away and escape the hustle of life. The owners were friendly and very accommodating, and there were many miles of horse trails to ride.
May 07, 2025 · Brandon DufreneTook a drive there after being recommended by a friend from april 2023. They loved it and we were excited to go. So surprised by the contrast of the photos they shared with us. Grass so high you could not see the creek or the pond that they bragged about. Complete grounds were unusable. So sad from what we expected. Thank god we didn’t haul horses!
Jul 21, 2024 · Julie JulieWe always have a great time when we stay here. The place is well operated. The trails got a little rough for a while, but when we were there esrly last year, they were much better. The full size bed in bunk house is kind of uncomfortable, but there are plenty twins to sleep on.
Feb 29, 2024 · Amanda MccoyI made a two day reservation for a campsite over the Memorial day weekend. I received my confirmation of payment and reservation number. But the confirmation did not have my campsite location or camp#. I was going to arrive late around 7pm. I called Brushy Creek's business phone number that's listed on their website. I wanted to talk to the campground attendant to obtain check-in information and camp location and that I will be arriving late . I called two days in advance of my check-in date and again on day of check-in. I tried calling several times they never answered the phone. Notknowing my camp location or check-in procedures I decided not to drive 200 miles to a campground that I have very little information. For example the campground maybe closed upon my arrival and if I could enter the campground late I have no idea where my campsite is located. Terrible customer service.
May 26, 2024 · Johnna Dianna BurkeMy family and I brought our travel trailer to camp for a quiet, relaxing weekend. Wethoroughly enjoyed this place. It is quiet and beautiful. We spent the day walking around exploring. The property is beautiful. We loved it and plan to go back during summer. We went horseback riding on Sunday morning. I don't have the best luck with horses but my family loves to ride. They have the best horses I've ever been around. My horse was great!
