Bruin Lake Modern Campground Reviews
This review is going to going to be based on potential. The campground has two very different sides, a side and roads that look like they were added within the past 5-7 years and the older side near the entrance that looks like it’s between 30-40 years old and in great need of the planned update fall of 2024. As the gateway to a chain of lakes, it seems like this park has a lot to offer and could easily be a crown jewel of the lower park system. Overall the beach needs a beach, not just swimming area, the geese need to be controlled s little bit, some of the sites near the camp host might be better served as pull-throughs, the older roads need to be repaved, the older bathhouse needs to be rebuilt, and some of the sharper corners need to be reworked. The park might also be better served by parking directions, campers were parked in all kinds of weird positions that made it hard to hook up or park on neighboring sites. The newer section is great, the hike in sites are some of the best I have seen, the yurt is awesome, the upper playground is modern and large, the campground was very quiet. We will come back after the updated are completed next year. I highly suggest taking a drive through the park if you have some to see the too different areas.
Jul 22, 2024 · Todd KorabikAnother Beautiful Lake in Michigan! The campground is well kept and it has some nicely secluded hike-in campsites. We loved the kayaking and volleyball. You can enjoy hiking and biking as well. The only item that is always missing in MI camping sites is any sort of grill grate and this is annoying.
Aug 23, 2024 · Joanna S.I was at site 82, lots of trees, beautiful. The site is dirt on a hill so I had to use tire blocks. It's more sand than grass but couldn't really notice it because the leaves are falling. Very large site, nice fire pit and picnic table. Electric box is in the correct place but on the wrong side for my neighboring site. Showers are clean with hot water and great water pressure. Restrooms are clean. The lower lake area sites are concrete pads, look very nice but not as large. The office is closed for the season so you check in via your cell phone. No wood or ice because they aren't currently open. Beach, boat launch, fishing pier, sand volleyball court, playground areas, 2 shower/restrooms, open fields, dump and water fill Station, cabins, private tent sites, octagon ball area, kick ball area, grills allowed, pets welcome. No immediate trails in camping area, you need to walk a while to get to trails. This is my first visit, I will be coming again.
Oct 29, 2022 · Barie FetterWe stayed at one of the hike in sites (H8) and it was beautiful! It was perfectly tucked back in the woods up on a small hill away from all the other sites. We couldn’t see anyone else from where we were. It takes about 3 minutes to walk out to this site and it is the furthest one from the parking lot, so all of the others would take even less time. The showers and bathrooms were the best I’ve seen in a Michigan state park. The showers are individual rooms with plenty of spots to put your things like a bench, towel rack, and hooks. The water was hot and the room was really clean. The bathrooms are separate from the showers and were also very clean and well maintained. The sites in the regular campground area are really close together so be prepared to have neighbors nearby if you’re staying there. My only complaint was there were a few campers being incredibly loud until about 2 am. Not the parks fault obviously, but some noise enforcement would have been nice. The lake was perfect for a sunset kayak ride, and the overall vibe of the campground was good and maintained. The firewood was $6 for a bundle and it was nice, dry firewood. I’d stay here again, but only in one of the hike in tent sites.
Oct 02, 2022 · Noah RothOurfirst time here won't be our last. The area we are in has tons of shade. The campground we're at will be closing in sep for electric upgrades. As of right now, my advice would be to bring extra extension cords, especially for campers. We had to switch sites because our original site, the pole, was too far away for the cord on my unit.
