Broad River Campsite is located deep within Everglades National Park, Florida, USA. Its precise location is near "WW marker #25" on the south bank of the Broad River. This is a critical detail for accessibility, as this campsite is a backcountry site, meaning it is not accessible by vehicle. Instead, access is primarily by water, making it a destination for those who enjoy paddling (kayaking or canoeing) or boating.
For Floridians planning a trip, accessibility means preparing for a journey by boat. You would typically launch from designated points within Everglades National Park, such as the Gulf Coast Visitor Center or Everglades City, and then navigate the intricate waterways to reach the campsite. The journey itself is a significant part of the adventure, offering stunning views of the mangrove tunnels and open water. Due to the remote nature of the site, detailed navigation skills and a reliable watercraft are essential.
The remote location ensures a true wilderness experience, far from any urban noise or light pollution. While this means fewer conventional amenities, it guarantees an unrivaled opportunity for solitude and wildlife viewing. Being located within Everglades National Park, visitors also benefit from the broader park resources, though planning your approach and departure well in advance is crucial due to the isolated nature of this specific campsite. Not for ninnies. This place can break spirits, break boats and leave you in a bad spot. If you camp and your familiar with the things that will mess up your day down here you will do okay. There are far better sites in the park and this one is among the buggiest
