For Massachusetts locals seeking an ideal blend of scenic beauty, abundant activities, and convenient access to Cape Cod, Bourne Scenic Park in Buzzards Bay stands out as a premier camping destination. Since its founding in 1951, this well-established park has grown to offer a comprehensive outdoor experience, making it a beloved spot for both transient visitors and seasonal campers. Nestled along the picturesque banks of the iconic Cape Cod Canal, it provides a unique backdrop for your Massachusetts getaway, combining the tranquility of nature with a vibrant, community-oriented atmosphere.
Bourne Scenic Park, owned and operated by the Bourne Recreation Authority on land leased from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, has continually improved its facilities over the years. What started as a modest picnic and camping area with 200 sites has expanded to an impressive 439 sites, including numerous electric hookups and newly added cabins and lodges. This growth reflects the park's commitment to providing a versatile and accommodating experience for all types of campers, from those with large motorhomes to families seeking a rustic cabin retreat.
One of the most compelling aspects of Bourne Scenic Park, frequently highlighted by visitors, is its lively yet laid-back atmosphere. Reviews consistently praise the well-kept grounds and the helpful, friendly staff and fellow campers, contributing to a welcoming environment. As one mobile service technician noted, even a work-related visit prompted a "well deserved five star review," describing it as "Comparatively a great place to camp!" This speaks volumes about the overall positive experience visitors can expect, whether they're on vacation or just passing through.
While the park is large and popular, especially with seasonals, the staff are known for being accommodating. One reviewer mentioned that despite picking an initial site that was "too small and not level" for their 40ft motorhome, the "Camp staff recommended other suitable sites, and we were able to move." This flexibility, particularly during the off-season, ensures that even with a large campground, individual camper needs are considered, enhancing the overall comfort of your stay.

Bourne Scenic Park Reviews
A very nice campground with plenty to see and do. The grounds were well kept and staff and campers were helpful and friendly. I was there on business as a mobile service technician for My RV Guy, although my visit was work related I'd still like to leave a well deserved five star review. Comparatively a great place to camp!
May 20, 2025 · Best Travel Reviewers NetworkNice older Army Corp of Engineer park. Large campground with lots of seasonals. We camped in 40ft motorhome. First site we picked was too small and not level. Camp staff recommended other suitable sites, and we were able to move (probably because it was off-season).
May 08, 2025 · Karey BGreat time, stayed in RV, bathrooms and amenities are wonderful, kids had a great time. Went preseason, rented golf cart
Jun 08, 2025 · Bri LeingThis is the best campground with so much to do. Pools, kids activities, entertainment, great staff, and more. So many precious memories made at this home away from home.
Mar 12, 2025 · Kathy AndersonThe staff was incredible. Campsites are very well kept, but so incredibly close together with not much cover at all. I am a pretty heavy sleeper and was still up all night with cars flying over route 6. Ended up cutting the trip short because of it, so definitely keep that in mind! Nice spot if you want to go explore the cape, but for locals who just want to relax go up to NH instead.
