RV Camping: The campground has dedicated sites for RVs, offering a convenient way to enjoy the great outdoors with the comforts of home.

RV Water Hookup: Water hookups are available at the RV sites, ensuring you have easy access to fresh water. While some spigots might be a bit far from the sites, a longer hose (at least 75 feet) will easily solve this, giving you consistent water pressure.

The atmosphere is generally peaceful, and the campground's dedication to maintaining quiet hours ensures a good night's rest. For families, this is an excellent choice. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Big Rock Campground is a decent spot with some highlights but also a few deal-breakers for us. The trails are a nice touch, great for riding e-bikes or getting in a good hike. It has a laid-back, family-friendly vibe with a mix of tent campers and RVs.All sites are gravel with no concrete pads. Most of the gravel spots are growing grass in the parking areas. While the grounds are mowed regularly, a little extra maintenance or spraying would go a long way in improving the overall experience. There’s not much shade, the trees are young and provide little to no cover for RVs. Facilities are basic: no showers, just toilets. There’s no sewer hookup, and the $15 charge to use the dump station each time feels excessive. At $41 a night, that really should be included or baked into the nightly fee.Water and electricity are included, but the water spigots are often 65 feet or more from the sites, so be sure to bring at least 75 feet of hose. We were also woken up each morning by neighboring dogs barking, which made for some early, unwanted alarms.Staff was friendly during our one interaction at check-in, no complaints there.Overall, it’s a passable spot, but the sewer setup and water access would keep us from returning.
July 20 · Jason ShadowenWe had a great stay here a few weeks ago. The site we had was well maintained, a nice gravel pad to park, amazing water pressure, stable power, and awesome people all around. There was a slight issue after quiet hours where teenagers were acting like teenagers screaming and yelling etc etc. We could have cared less about the noise, but the 5 0 came through and had a talk with them.We will be back to stay again for sure!
July 19 · MarkI met three friends with our horses at Big Rock Camp ground. There is a large area designated for parking horse trailers with easy access to pull in and pull out. There is a large shelter with picnic tabled and several water spickets. Bathrooms and trails are close. We rode for about 1.5 hours on well marked trails and didn't see the whole forest preserve! It is a peaceful and quiet location. We will go back again.
July 22 · Donna Liebhaber-PlesaVery flat, level campground with absolutely no shade or hardly any trees. There's no showers either and the restrooms are OK. Not the cleanest. Paid $41 for out of state price just to park somewhere with an outlet and water. I'd recommend a truck stop instead or any other state park. The lack of amenities doesn't justify the price.
May 10 · HazelGreat place tucked into woods and prairie. sites are spacious. need to have long water hose, hook ups are way in back of sites. sites are flat with the use of crush gravel. picnic tables are available with firepits. Town has some good restaurants and stores are near by.
