Would not recommend. This was a terrible camping experience. We rented the "group" site 3 times the cost @ $121.00 a night. We wanted the entire weekend from a Thursday to Sunday. The Friday slot showed as not available. So I reserved Thursday, and Saturday. Once we arrived we found that the campsite was on the road. There was power for 3 campers, but hardly enough room to get them parked. Our "neighbors across the road were constantly pulling into our site to back into thiers. The "camp hosts" if you want to call them that, were mostly unavailable and when we told them we were wanting the Friday "first come first serve" spot as well, they informed us we needed to pay cash for it. I went to the self serve kiosk to pay for the site, and as I was paying another car pulled up and was trying to pay for the same site, they said the camp hosts had just told them that our site was available, talk about trying to start a fight! Saturday morning we decided to go ahead and leave early. The noise and constant traffic was too much. As we were packing up, someone asked if we were leaving, they were going to rent the spot we were in. We had vacated the spot by 10am and another group had rented it, paying cash, of course. We requested a refund a refund for the night we didn't use and were denied. Even though someone else had rented it. This is a California company managing a Colorado campground. We have definitely gotten to the point that California controls Colorado. This company should be ashamed. And stop doing untraceable cash transactions. - Greg Story

Bellaire Lake Campground is located at Red Feather Lakes, CO 80545, USA. This places it within the Roosevelt National Forest, a vast and beautiful area in northern Colorado. The Red Feather Lakes region is known for its numerous small lakes and ponderosa pine forests, providing a quintessential mountain setting. Access to Bellaire Lake Campground typically involves driving on paved and then well-maintained gravel roads from the main Red Feather Lakes road. The journey to the campground itself is scenic, winding through forests and offering glimpses of the stunning landscapes that define this part of Colorado.

For locals, the Red Feather Lakes area is generally accessible from major front-range cities like Fort Collins within a reasonable driving time, making it a popular choice for weekend getaways. While specific directions should always be confirmed, typically you would travel west on CO-14 (Poudre Canyon Highway) and then turn north onto a County Road that leads into the Red Feather Lakes area, eventually connecting to the specific Forest Service roads leading to Bellaire Lake. It's always advisable to check current road conditions, especially during the shoulder seasons (spring and fall), as higher elevations can experience early or late snow. Despite its popularity, the specific location of Bellaire Lake provides a sense of being truly immersed in the forest, offering a peaceful retreat away from the more urbanized areas of Colorado. Visitors should be aware that while generally accessible, it retains a rustic, natural feel.

Bellaire Lake Campground provides essential services designed to facilitate a comfortable and traditional forest camping experience, allowing visitors to fully enjoy the natural surroundings. It's important to note that as a Forest Service campground, it offers more primitive amenities compared to private RV parks.

  • Campsites with Amenities: Individual campsites typically include a picnic table and a fire ring, which is often equipped with a grill grate. These are fundamental for outdoor cooking and social gatherings around a campfire (always check for current fire restrictions).
  • Power for Campers: As noted in customer reviews, some sites, particularly group sites, may offer power hookups for campers. However, specific availability and capacity might be limited, and visitors should confirm this when making reservations.
  • Vault Toilets: The campground provides vault toilets, which are non-flush restroom facilities. These facilities are generally maintained by the managing agency (US Forest Service or their concessionaire) to ensure cleanliness for campers.
  • Dumpsters Available: For convenient waste disposal, dumpsters are typically located within the campground, allowing campers to properly dispose of their trash and maintain a clean environment.
  • No Running Water: It's crucial for campers to be aware that Bellaire Lake Campground generally does not have running water available at individual sites or centralized spigots. Campers should plan to bring their own potable water supply for drinking, cooking, and hygiene, or be prepared to filter water from natural sources if applicable, following proper purification methods.
  • Group Site Availability: The campground offers specific group sites, which are larger areas designed to accommodate multiple tents and vehicles for bigger parties. These sites may have different pricing and reservation policies.

Bellaire Lake Campground is cherished for its unique features and highlights that offer a distinct Colorado outdoor experience.

  • Unique Rock Formations: The surrounding landscape is characterized by fascinating rock formations, adding to the scenic beauty and offering interesting geological points of interest to explore.
  • Recovering Forest: The area has been affected by past fires, and the process of forest recovery is a notable feature. This showcases the resilience of nature and provides a unique landscape with a mix of regenerating trees and open areas, which can offer more expansive views.
  • Opportunities for Hiking: The campground serves as a base for exploring various trails in the surrounding Roosevelt National Forest, suitable for different levels of hikers.
  • Fishing Opportunities: Bellaire Lake itself offers fishing, often stocked with trout, providing a peaceful activity for anglers.
  • Small, Intimate Campground: Compared to larger, busier campgrounds, Bellaire Lake is a smaller, more intimate setting, which can contribute to a quieter and more relaxed atmosphere for many campers.
  • Scenic Beauty: Despite past fires, the overall natural beauty of the Red Feather Lakes region, with its diverse flora and fauna, remains a significant draw.

It's important for potential visitors to manage expectations regarding recent past negative reviews related to management and specific site characteristics.
