Beech Bottom Camping Area Reviews
Nice area. Could be much better with some better maintenance. Quiet and peaceful except for the flow of side by sides and 4wheelers on the 'main' road all the time. Outhouses (restrooms) are pit style, women's and men's sides with multiple stalls one each side of the building but NOT properly ventilated. Make sure to choose a site upwind. Fire rings and picnic tables at most of the sites, bring your own grill grate. Each site has its own trash can. Hand pump for water was labeled as NOT potable, but it didn't seem to work anyway but that may be due to this year's drought. There's a local who traveled with a brown and white, small, pitbullish looking dog who tried to come in once during the day and again at night and steal money from the self service box via a wire with a bit of glue stuck to the end. The time at night (we camping right next to outhouses and pay station) he was desperate or stupid, left in a hurry after racking the chamber of my .40 and hitting headlights of the car. Assuming local cause he came through a path in dark with no light and we may not have seen him if not for our dog. Another camper who was local told us about the daytime try while we had left camp for a supply run. We left a note with his description in a pay envelope in the box and the other campers were going to call local wardens with the warning. I'll camp there again as long as it's open.
