Had high hopes for this park. The pictures seem to make it look good. We'll that is the good. Here's the rant... first they tried to cancel us to go 2 hours farther south, when we booked here because of family close by. This is for what they said was fema. Not sure that us true have not seen anyone here that was displaced. As we drove in the park I'd full of outdated permanent trailers. The park has a pool that is OK. The laundry and only bath house for the 380 some sites is closed. November 11 to May 11. So it's closed all of high use in Florida. There is very little grass here, so if you get a site with grass be prepared that you now have the dog potty room. People here do NOT pick up after their pets. When confronted they reply "you don't know what I am going threw". As this is an excuse. Most of the permanent people here are rude and have no respect for people who travel. It is 8 minutes from the beach. This is the only plus here. The lady at the front desk is friendly enough. I'm sure she us tired of the people being disgusted. As she is the face for the manager that hides. What is Encore and Thousand Trails doing. For the amount of money they pull in for permanent sites and only pay their employees minimum wage, there should be more upkeep. If you are a member go elsewhere unless you can deal with these items to go to the beach. End of rant. Safe travels. - Telemnar Ilúvatar

Barrington Hills Introduce

For many Floridians, the allure of coastal living combined with the flexibility of RV travel is a dream. Nestled in Hudson, Florida, Barrington Hills RV Resort, part of the extensive Encore and Thousand Trails network, aims to provide just that. This large park, with approximately 380 sites, caters to a mix of long-term residents and transient travelers seeking a convenient base for exploring the Gulf Coast. While some aspects of the park have garnered mixed reviews, its undeniable proximity to the beautiful Florida beaches remains a significant draw for locals and visitors alike. This article will offer a balanced and factual overview of Barrington Hills, providing you, our fellow Florida residents, with the insights needed to determine if this RV park aligns with your camping preferences. We'll delve into its location, available services, and features, ensuring you have a clear picture before planning your next stay.

Barrington Hills RV Resort is strategically located at 9412 New York Ave, Hudson, FL 34667, USA. This address places it in Pasco County, on Florida's beautiful "Nature Coast," known for its natural springs, wildlife, and Gulf beaches. For Floridians, the most significant advantage of this location is its incredible proximity to the Gulf of Mexico – it's just an 8-minute drive to the beach. This makes beach outings, fishing trips, and enjoying sunsets over the Gulf incredibly convenient. The park is easily accessible via major roads, allowing for straightforward travel from various parts of Florida, including the greater Tampa Bay area to the south and communities further north along the coast. While the immediate surroundings of the park itself might feature a blend of residential and older commercial properties, the main draw is its gateway to the natural beauty and recreational opportunities of the Gulf Coast. Hudson offers local dining and shopping options, and larger cities like Tampa are within a reasonable driving distance for more extensive amenities and attractions. This blend of coastal accessibility and local conveniences positions Barrington Hills as a practical, if sometimes imperfect, choice for those looking to stay in the Hudson area.

Barrington Hills RV Resort offers a range of services designed for RV campers, though some availability and upkeep have been noted in customer feedback. It's important for potential visitors to be aware of the provided amenities.

  • Full Hookup Sites: The park provides sites with essential 30/50 amp electric, sewer, and water hookups, accommodating a variety of RV sizes. While sites can vary in angle and size, many offer a concrete or gravel pad for parking.
  • Swimming Pool: A community swimming pool is available for guests to enjoy. While it may not be considered luxurious by all, it offers a refreshing way to cool off during Florida’s warm afternoons. Some information indicates the pool pavers have been updated, suggesting ongoing maintenance.
  • Laundry Facilities: The park reportedly has laundry facilities, although some recent reviews indicate they may be closed for extended periods (e.g., November to May) for maintenance or other reasons. It's advisable to verify their operational status directly with the park, especially if this is a critical amenity for your stay. Previous reviews have noted the laundry facility as being large and clean, with credit card payment options.
  • Bathhouse: A bathhouse is available on-site. Similar to the laundry facilities, recent feedback suggests potential closures for maintenance during high-use seasons, which is a point of concern for some travelers. Information from other sources indicates restrooms are available, and some past reviews mention them as clean.
  • Pet-Friendly: Barrington Hills welcomes pets, although specific restrictions apply (e.g., small dogs only, on-leash requirements, and a limit of two pets). The park also includes a dedicated, small fenced dog park for pets to exercise off-leash. However, some guest feedback indicates issues with pet waste not being consistently picked up by other campers, which can impact the shared areas.
  • Wi-Fi Access: Internet/Wi-Fi is listed as an amenity, though specific performance details (like speed or reliability) are not universally praised in reviews.
  • Mail Service: For longer-term residents, mail service is listed as an available amenity.

Barrington Hills RV Resort, despite varied guest experiences, offers several features and highlights that might appeal to Floridians seeking a particular type of RV park stay:

  • Proximity to the Beach: Without a doubt, the most significant highlight is its mere 8-minute proximity to the beach. This makes it an ideal base for those whose primary goal is to enjoy the Gulf Coast's sands and waters.
  • Acceptable Pricing: For some, particularly members of Encore or Thousand Trails, or those seeking a more budget-friendly option compared to other RV resorts in the vicinity, Barrington Hills can offer a reasonably priced stay.
  • Full-Time RV Living Potential: With many long-term residents, the park offers a sense of stability and community for those living in their RVs full-time. The availability of permanent sites and annual rates caters to this demographic.
  • Friendly Front Desk Staff: Despite the challenges some visitors faced, the lady at the front desk is consistently described as "friendly enough," suggesting a welcoming first point of contact for guests.
  • Variety of On-site Activities (Reported): While current activity levels vary, the park's official descriptions mention a clubhouse, game room (with billiards), shuffleboard, horseshoes, and planned activities. These amenities suggest potential for social engagement and recreation within the park, if active.
  • Access to Local Dining and Shopping: The Hudson area provides convenient access to local restaurants and shops, ensuring that essentials and dining-out options are never far away.
  • Mobile Home Community Integration: As it is also a mobile home community, there can be a blend of mobile home residents and RV campers, which for some, contributes to a more established, settled atmosphere.

It is often advisable to confirm the operational status of specific amenities, such as the laundry and bathhouse, directly with the park, especially if traveling during peak season.

For Floridians considering Barrington Hills RV Resort, it's important to set expectations based on its current reputation and offerings. While it boasts an undeniable advantage in its very close proximity to the beautiful Gulf Coast beaches, making it suitable for beach enthusiasts, other aspects of the park present a more mixed picture. The presence of outdated permanent trailers and issues with pet waste clean-up, as noted by some reviewers, can detract from the overall aesthetic and experience. Similarly, the reported closure of the sole bathhouse and laundry facility during high-use periods is a significant inconvenience, particularly for travelers reliant on these amenities. However, if your priority is simply a full hookup site near the beach and you are prepared for a park that caters heavily to long-term residents, Barrington Hills could serve as an acceptable and potentially more affordable option than some other RV resorts. The friendly front desk staff provides a welcoming face, and the established nature of the park offers a unique community feel. Ultimately, for locals, it’s a park that requires a clear understanding of its trade-offs. If proximity to the beach is paramount and you are self-sufficient in your RV, it offers a pragmatic choice in the Hudson area for your Florida adventures.
