Badger Campground, being a truly rustic site within the Sylvania Wilderness, provides essential amenities tailored for a primitive camping experience. These services are designed to offer fundamental comfort while minimizing environmental impact, emphasizing self-reliance and Leave No Trace principles. Campers should be prepared to bring most of what they need, as the focus here is on the natural environment rather than extensive facilities. Services typically include:
- Designated Campsites: The campground features individual, well-defined sites that are designed for privacy and to accommodate tent camping. Each site is equipped for a small group, typically up to six people, ensuring a quieter and less crowded atmosphere than larger, developed campgrounds.
- Fire Rings: Every campsite comes with a designated fire ring, allowing campers to safely build campfires for cooking, warmth, and ambiance. Firewood may need to be sourced from downed branches within the wilderness area (where permitted) or brought in, though visitors are often advised against transporting wood from outside the region to prevent the spread of invasive species.
- Pit Toilets (Vault Toilets): Basic, non-flush pit toilets are available within the campground area. These are maintained to provide essential sanitation in a wilderness setting.
- Picnic Tables: Each site is equipped with a rustic picnic table, providing a convenient surface for meal preparation and outdoor dining.
- Water Access: While potable water is not piped directly to sites, Badger Campground's location with a view of Crooked Lake means natural water sources are available. Campers should plan to bring their own potable water or be equipped with appropriate filtration or purification methods for treating lake water for drinking and cooking.
- Pack It In, Pack It Out Policy: Consistent with wilderness management, visitors are required to pack out all trash and waste, leaving the campsite and surrounding area as pristine as they found it. This minimizes human impact and preserves the natural beauty.
- Accessibility for Backpacking and Paddling: As a wilderness site, Badger Campground is often accessible via backpacking trails or by canoe/kayak, appealing to those who enjoy a more active approach to reaching their campsite.

Very nice spot on a hillside with a view of Crooked Lake, but be forewarned that you may encounter clouds of mosquitoes and biting flies. These are rustic sites that only have fire rings and pit toilets, so you will need to pack everything in and out. Especially the DEET. Lots and lots of DEET.
