4.0
We spent 2 nights at the cabin the beginning of Sept 2024 and I would like to give it the 5 stars, but there was a couple of issues. It is a beautiful area with the river and campgrounds. The cabin is extremely nice and comfortable. Very clean and surprisingly well stocked. My only complaints are the shower and the smell from the garage. The shower was a nice addition, but the hot water is very temperamental and the dial is backwards. Hot is cold and cold is hot. When you finally get that working, the water gets very hot, but if you try to add cold, it loses the hot and goes all cold. The pungent smell from the garage is from packrats! Lots of them. The urine is so strong it makes it difficult to sit outside. We were unaware of exactly what the smell was until a ranger informed us. He stayed to stay out of the garage, it's locked anyways, because they are mean.Other than those items, it would get 5 stars. We hope to go again.Thank you USFS for offering such a nice cabin and keeping it beautiful. Also, put my fees towards a microwave 🙃 - Dena Nechwedowich

Avery Creek Cabin is wonderfully situated at 26881 Coeur D'Alene River Rd, Wallace, ID 83873, USA. This address places it deep within the picturesque Idaho Panhandle National Forests, along the beautiful Coeur d'Alene River. The cabin's setting in Shoshone County positions it perfectly for those looking to explore the diverse landscapes and recreational opportunities that North Idaho is renowned for.

Accessibility to Avery Creek Cabin is generally straightforward, primarily via paved roadways, making it an accessible destination by car. From Interstate 90, visitors typically take Exit 43 (Kingston). From there, travel north on Forest Highway 9 for approximately 23 miles, then continue straight for another 3 miles on Forest Road 208 (which is a two-lane paved highway) until you reach the cabin. The cabin is located roughly 200 feet past milepost 26 on Forest Road 208. The Avery Picnic Area is conveniently located directly across Forest Road 208 from the cabin. While the roads leading to the cabin are typically well-maintained and paved, it is always a good idea to check current road conditions, especially during the colder months when snow or ice can affect travel. The scenic drive to the cabin is part of the experience, winding through lush forests and alongside the river. It's a relatively remote location, providing the desired solitude while remaining reachable for a comfortable getaway. Travel time from Coeur d'Alene is approximately one hour.

Avery Creek Cabin, while offering a rustic appeal, provides a range of amenities designed to make your stay comfortable and convenient, bridging the gap between traditional camping and a full-service rental. It's described as surprisingly well-stocked, indicating a thoughtful approach to guest needs.
