Aune Osborn Campground Reviews
It is what it is -- right on the water, with ships going close by. Which we thought was a great idea for watching, and it was. But early the next morning we didn't so much appreciate the very loud signals between ships when they meet one another and communicate their intentions for passage. But that is on us, we should have known to expect it. Just don't plan on sleeping in!
Jun 01, 2025 · Rick HiebIntended to stay for a long time, as I did a military transfer to the area and we needed a "home base" to live in while we hunted for a house. Wires got crossed with my realtor (See my Keller Williams review, forthcoming) and suddenly my early checkout became a scramble to find a way to stay thirty extra days.No problem! The staff here is awesome, especially Dawn (A newcomer to the staff, just here for a summer job.) who spent a solid 55 minutes on the phone with the boss making sure I had thirty days of spots reserved-- not always the same spot and we have to move around a little bit as opposed to planting in Spot #43 like we've been for the last month, but it beats a Walmart parking lot. Only one day was a problem: June 27 was filled up completely due to "Engineer's Day", a local holiday. But Dawn came to the rescue AGAIN, checking every morning for cancelations and not three days went by before she called me and said she had a place for us on the 27th.I have only two VERY minute complaints about this campground: 1. Lack of full hookups, so if you're going to stay here, make sure you bring a Rhino or some other means to pump waste and take it to the dump station on site.2. Lack of an off-leash dog area. It would be nice if we could let our boys run around for a bit since they've been cooped up in a camper for the last 36 days other than leash walks. Those are pretty minor issues when compared to the amazing staff and how close it is to downtown and my new position.Additionally, a Texas-based RV repairman makes this his summer home, so you have on-site tech support for your RV or camper (and he's a HAM radio enthusiast as well!) and the local camp host "Pete" is also here to take care of after hours issues.Thank you, Aune-Osborne for giving us a temporary home, and thank you to Dawn for helping make sure we could stay here a little longer.
Jun 22, 2025 · The Real DealGreat for freighter watching, good bathrooms and showers. This place sells out fast, make reservations in spring.
Jul 02, 2025 · James WellingWe had an amazing 10 day visit. The campground is very well maintained. Shower house and bathroom were very nice. Watching the ships pass by was amazing. Would highly recommend taking the ferry to sugar Island for bike riding. If your lucky you will be at the ferry when a big ship is going by. They had a horn blowing completion which was really cool. Make sure to have a burger at Clyde's either before or after the ferry ride
Oct 01, 2024 · Bill LoseyWe loved Aune! Great place to camp. The Camp Host was very friendly and helpful. Loved watching the ships go by.
