Arnold AFB FamCamp Introduce
For eligible members of our military community and their families in Tennessee, finding an affordable and scenic camping spot can be a true gem. Arnold AFB FamCamp in Tullahoma offers just that – a unique lakeside retreat primarily for active duty, retired military, eligible veterans, and DoD civilians. While it provides excellent value and beautiful surroundings on Woods Reservoir, understanding its specific nature and current state is key to planning your visit. It’s a place that promises tranquil water access and a natural setting, making it a perfect escape for those who serve or have served our nation.
Customer reviews offer a candid look at the FamCamp experience. Campers consistently praise the "great" campground and the "nice to have water access," highlighting the core appeal of this location. The "best two things about this famcamp is location and price," making it an incredibly attractive option for its target audience. However, feedback also points to areas needing attention, particularly regarding maintenance. Comments like "The building itself looks like it's in bad shape. It hasn't been cleaned in months. Maybe just the sinks, toilets, and such. There has got to be about 2 years' worth of dead bugs and cobwebs throughout the facility" and "Buildings, signage and trees all need maintenance. A ton of poison ivy needs sprayed, some of it is very mature going up the overgrown trees" indicate that while the natural setting is beautiful, some facilities are overdue for improvements.
Despite these criticisms, the desire to return is strong, indicating that the fundamental benefits—location, price, and the ability to connect with nature—outweigh the drawbacks for many. The call for the "Air Force, put some money into this campground, make it a better place for your guests" reflects a shared hope for its potential. For eligible Tennessee locals, Arnold AFB FamCamp presents a budget-friendly way to enjoy the outdoors, with the understanding that it offers a more rustic experience in some areas compared to fully commercial parks. Its appeal lies in its natural beauty and dedicated access for our military community.
Arnold AFB FamCamp is located on Northshore Rd, Tullahoma, TN 37388, USA. This places the campground on the scenic Woods Reservoir, a 4000-acre wilderness lake that serves as a vital water source for the Arnold Air Force Base's engineering and testing activities. Tullahoma itself is a city in Coffee and Franklin counties, situated in the heart of Middle Tennessee, known for its aerospace industry and proximity to natural attractions.
For eligible individuals and their families in Tennessee, reaching Arnold AFB FamCamp requires understanding the base access policies. While the campground is outside the main gated area of Arnold Air Force Base, check-in for the FamCamp is handled at the Outdoor Recreation (ODR) office, which is located behind a security checkpoint on Arnold Village. The main ODR office is located at Westover Road, Bldg 3055.

Despite the security procedures, the secluded location on Woods Reservoir offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle, providing convenient access to fishing, boating, and other water-based activities that the reservoir offers.

Arnold AFB FamCamp Reviews
The campground is great. Nice to have water access also. However, we decided not to use the shower/bath house for obvious reasons. The building itself looks like it's in bad shape. It hasn't been cleaned in months. Maybe just the sinks, toilets, and such. There has got to be about 2 years' worth of dead bugs and cobwebs throughout the facility. I have used facilities that were worse while on deployments, but this one is not far off from that. Air Force, put some money into this campground, make it a better place for your guests.
Jun 11, 2025 · Rande HendersonThe best two things about this famcamp is location and price. The campground would really benefit from having an on-site staff. Wifi would greatly enhance the experience since it's out of reach of regular broadcast tv channels. Buildings, signage and trees all need maintenance. A ton of poison ivy needs sprayed, some of it is very mature going up the overgrown trees. You can see it once had an office on-site but hasn't been used in awhile. What keeps non DOD personnel from using the dump station or camping for free? There's no security and no staff on-site seems a little crazy to me since it's a military base. The office staff are located quite a distance away behind a security checkpoint. You can't manage a campground from there. As a previous owner of a small campground, you absolutely NEED to be on-site!
Jun 24, 2025 · Stephen GrangerWe really enjoyed our time at FamCamp. Many improvements have been made, including concrete pads. There is a nice mountain bike trail close. I also enjoyed kayaking on the lake. The lake is also a great fishing lake. To see our adventures subscribe to SIMPLE LIFE BIG ADVENTURES on YouTube.
Apr 12, 2024 · Scotty TuckerI've been here 5 days out of a 7 night stay. I get that it's not FHU, but I can't even drain my tanks because the service side is higher than the door side. There is a laundry but only 1 washer and one dryer. I have been trying to do laundry for over 5 hours. The bathhouse hasn't been cleaned since I got here, 6 days.Edit: after 6 hours of waiting my clothes are hanging on a cloths line. Don't expect much from this famcamp.I expect more from an airforce base. The installation Commander should be ashamed at the condition of this famcamp. He/she is failing service members, retirees, and their families. Do better! If I ever come back, it will be for less than 3 days. Fix this famcamp!
Jun 19, 2024 · ScottNice campground for veterans next to the lake. Very reasonable rates makes staying here affordable.
