Amanita Campground Introduce
Nestled on the western shores of the picturesque Lake Cascade in west-central Idaho, Amanita Campground offers a classic lakeside camping experience. This charming campground, located near the town of Donnelly, provides a serene retreat for outdoor enthusiasts seeking to connect with nature's beauty. While some recent tree removal due to root rot means less shade than before, the "really pretty views of the lake" remain a consistent highlight for visitors. Amanita is known for its peaceful atmosphere, offering a respite from the hustle and bustle, though its proximity to a main road means occasional vehicle sounds. Despite this, the overwhelming sentiment from campers is one of enjoyment and relaxation. With its focus on basic, well-maintained facilities and direct access to Lake Cascade, Amanita is ideal for those who appreciate primitive camping with essential comforts. It's a fantastic base for a variety of recreational activities, from casting a line in the lake for rainbow trout and perch to swimming in its refreshing waters, or embarking on nearby hiking and ATV adventures. Whether you're a local looking for a quick lakeside getaway or planning a longer stay to explore the Boise National Forest, Amanita Campground offers a genuine Idaho outdoor experience.

Amanita Campground Reviews
Nice location, right on the lake, close to town close to Tamarak. Also close to the noisy road. Some camp sites need repairs and maintenance.
Jun 26, 2025 · David ZinkWell-maintained campground right on the lake with a few water spigots and vault toilets. They recently cut down many trees due to root rot so there isn't much shade. It is also right next to a road so there is the sounds of vehicles driving by. Other than those things, there are really pretty views of the lake. Wish there were a better trail to access the lake without going through another campsite.
May 28, 2024 · Sarah StoutThis is a decent car camping spot, but unless you have one of the choice lakefront sites, it's just okay. Lots of road noise from West Mountain road. Only 2 pit toilets, one men's and one women's. Sites have good graded tent pads and are pretty private feeling.
Sep 13, 2020 · Ben ZNice campground, running water and vault toilets. It takes about 15 it get back to town from here paved road to the campground and dirt road inside.
Jul 31, 2019 · William CoonVery sad campground to see the trees decimated. Stumps, dirt, and a general feeling of distruction. Even our table was broken. Beach is still nice is the only redeeming note. Rainbow Point next door is still nice and the nearby State Park options.
