Renegade 38ft - These are first come sites but we took a chance on the way to the Tetons. Probably five sites that we could have fit, comfortably & fairly level. We got site 9 and leveling was easy. Typical NFS sitesvery spacious from your neighbors, just the way I like it. Like a good neighborstay over there. Squirrels & Chipmunks for entertainment. Quiet, except for some highway noise. Didnt see any deer, elk, etc but there was a stream back if our site. Some chug holes on the way in but manageable. We stayed Monday - Sunday last of September. Campers came for one night stop overswe were the only consistent campers for the week.Cell phone service is Zilch. 150mbs on Starlink. Afton is 20 miles away with a large grocery store & Tractor Supply (propane)what more do you need?No water or trash receptacle. Hand driven water spigot did not work. No dump either. We camped at Bridger-Teton National Forest - Allred Flat Campground in a Motorhome. - Ron Gaddis

This article is your local's guide to Allred Flat Campground, providing a clear and factual overview of what to expect. We'll cover everything from its convenient location to the services it provides, helping you plan your next outdoor adventure with confidence. Forget the bustling, overcrowded tourist spots; Allred Flat is a place for authentic relaxation, perfect for those who appreciate simplicity and the great outdoors. It's a true Wyoming gem, and we're excited to share it with you.

Located in the heart of our beautiful region, Allred Flat Campground is situated at 10131 Forest Rd, in the small, charming community of Kelly, WY 83011. Its proximity to the Bridger-Teton National Forest makes it an ideal base camp for exploring the surrounding wilderness. The campground is easily accessible via well-maintained roads, though be mindful of potential chug holes on the final stretch. While it feels wonderfully remote, it's not so far off the beaten path that it becomes a hassle to get to. For those in RVs, several sites are spacious and fairly level, accommodating vehicles up to at least 38 feet. The draw is narrow and forested, providing a sense of seclusion and plenty of shade. This accessibility makes it a popular spot for both weekend getaways and extended stays for those who prefer to be the sole long-term campers. The journey to the campground itself is part of the experience, offering scenic views that hint at the natural beauty awaiting you.

Despite its rustic nature, the campground offers a few essential amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. It’s important to note that this is a primitive camping experience, so you should be prepared for limited services. The core offerings are designed to provide the basics you need without distracting from the natural environment. These services include:

  • Public restrooms and vault toilets: Clean and available for use, these facilities provide a much-needed convenience in the wilderness.
  • Running water: While the availability can be inconsistent, with some users reporting a non-functional hand-driven water spigot, it's a feature that may be available during your visit. It's always a good idea to bring your own water supply as a backup.
  • On-site parking: Each site includes dedicated parking, making it easy to set up your vehicle and camp.
  • Dogs allowed: Your furry friends are welcome to join you on your adventure, so long as they are kept under control and you follow all park regulations.
  • Camping fee: A small fee is required to camp here, with a reduced rate for seniors. This fee helps maintain the campground and its services.

Allred Flat Campground is not about a long list of fancy amenities; it’s about the unique features and authentic experiences it provides. Here are some highlights that make it stand out:

  • First-come, first-served sites: The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis, meaning you don't need a reservation. This offers a sense of spontaneity and the freedom to camp when you feel like it.
  • Spacious sites: The sites are generously spaced, providing ample room between you and your neighbors. This privacy is a major draw for those seeking a quiet retreat.
  • Bear boxes: Some sites are equipped with bear boxes, which are essential for storing food and scented items safely in bear country.
  • Wildlife viewing: While large animals like deer and elk may be elusive, the campground is teeming with smaller critters like squirrels and chipmunks, providing entertainment and a connection to the local ecosystem. The presence of a stream near some sites also adds to the peaceful ambiance.
  • Extended stays: With a 14-day limit, Allred Flat is perfect for those who want to truly immerse themselves in nature for an extended period.

The physical address is 10131 Forest Rd, Kelly, WY 83011, USA. It's always wise to call ahead for any updates or specific information, though the campground's first-come, first-served nature means real-time availability may be hard to determine over the phone. Being prepared is key, as cell phone service is practically nonexistent in the area, a testament to its remote and quiet character. For those who rely on connectivity, Starlink has been reported to work well in some sites, offering a modern solution to a classic problem.

So, what makes Allred Flat Campground the right choice for your next outing? It's a place for those who value peace, affordability, and a genuine connection to the outdoors. The low camping fee, especially with the senior discount, makes it an excellent option for budget-conscious travelers. The lack of reliable cell service is a feature, not a bug—it encourages you to truly disconnect and be present in the moment. The spacious and shaded sites provide a perfect haven from the sun and a welcome sense of privacy. It’s a place where you can feel like you’re the only person for miles, even with other campers nearby. While you might not find a bustling campground host, you will find a quiet, well-maintained space that allows you to enjoy the simple pleasures of camping: the rustle of leaves, the sound of a stream, and the fresh Wyoming air. It's also a great option for families, as it is good for kids, offering a safe environment for them to explore and learn about nature. Ultimately, Allred Flat Campground is worth choosing for its authentic, no-frills camping experience that allows you to fully appreciate the magnificent landscapes and tranquil atmosphere of the Bridger-Teton National Forest.
